I saw a TV show last night on a lady who was very obese and then lost a whole bunch of weight. The problem she had after losing the weight, was that she had pounds of loose skin and fat around her body. She had a surgery to fix this.
What concerned me is that my wife has gone through the same kind of weight loss. She has dropped over 80 pounds just by eating better and excercising . And she now has the same type of loose skin. She wanted me to look on the internet to get more info on this procedure. One of her goals in loosing weight was to be able to wear a bikini like she did in high school before babies and 10 years of worrying about everyone but herself. I know that she is self concious of the loose skin but I would hope there is a better way than surgery.
I'm very proud of the dedication my wife has put into being a healthier person and know she would love to show it off more. Does any body know of a different way to tighten or get rid of the skin?
Thanks.

BIG congrats to your wife for her lifestyle changes and to you for supporting her! I can only offer a little bit of info. The younger we are, the more elastic our skin is. Assuming that she is as young as you are, she has that in her favor. I had my 3rd baby at the age of 34. I have a lean physique, but my babies were 8.5 lbs., 9.0lbs., and the last one was 10.7 lbs.! That is a LOT of stretched skin for me! The good news is that within months I was back to prepregnancy shape. My routine included eating correctly and added ab work, but my point is that with time, my skin elasticity did it's work.
Is she mostly concerned about loose abdominal skin? Surgery is certainly an option and many women go that route. But if that isn't her choice, she might want to continue with her workouts and nutritional efforts. She may want to forego the bikini and opt for a really sexy one piece that accentuates her positives. Some suits even have extra support through the abs. I am sure you can help her identify all the POSITIVES about her shape! ;)
I am very supportive of doing what we can to improve what we can about our bodies, focusing on the positives and accepting what we can't change. She has so much to be proud of!
If she does opt for surgery, be sure to find a board certified cosmetic surgeon. Ask lots of questions and talk to other patients that have had similar procedures. Good luck and congrats again!
