Opinions on compression pants?
I've used compression socks for recovery and long international flights and I definitely notice a difference with diminished calf/foot fatigue. I don't run/race in them because they put pressure on my feet that is uncomfortable on long runs. In races I've seen compression leggings on other competitors that go from the ankle up to the knee that wouldn't cause the foot problem but I don't know who makes them.
My father in law swears by Skins tights and long-sleeved shirt for recovery from competitive skiing training and racing. There was a review of Skins on the insidetri website a couple of months ago. Their stuff is expensive.
I've got the Skins compression short and socks. I wear the socks for recovery and they do reduce calf cramping and pains that I typically have. I wear the compression shorts on long runs under loose shorts. They feel great but are not the cheapest (I bought mine while in Australia last year - so add in a plane ticket and they are the most expensive pair of shorts and socks I own).
I wouldn't get the Skins socks for wearing during a race as they are not full socks. The 2XU calf guards may be better at that.
Ha! I'm really hoping Paula Radcliffe is on to something, other than being cool. Hey, I sure couldn't get away with stopping to pee on the street in front of everyone. My calves for some reason tighten up and feel like granite when I run anything over 7 miles, or when I run hard.
I just ordered some, 60 bux... they'd better be worth it.
Weary is the path that does not challenge.

I'm considering getting some compression socks, hey marketing works. But before I do I'd like to know if anyone has'm and what they think. After long hard run workouts my calves absolutely kill, and during marathon, my calves feel like they're on fire. Paula Radcliffe wouldn't lie to me would she?
