Hey all - I was just wondering what your favorite magazines are that you read for good information on training, nutrition, and the sport in general. I love digesting as much information as possible so was wondering what you all read!

My current favorite magazine is Bicycling. It has so much good information and advice - I always look forward to the next issue. Other favorites are Triathlete, and Runners World and Running Times.

As far as women specific (personally for me!) - I really like Her Sports which is a relatively new magazine that has great information and spotlights amateur athletes as well; and Muscle and Fitness Hers which keeps evolving into a better and better magazine. I used to be a loyal Shape reader and always recommended it to friends - but I'm really disappointed in it - and have been for the past year or two. Once they started putting actresses and models on the cover with perfume inserts inside, I knew it was downhill from there. My subscription runs out this summer, and I plan on cancelling it. Every month I anticipate it turning itself around to focus again on fitness, but I'm always disappointed - they shifted to all the fad diets, weight loss tactics, and getting those great abs! So after being a loyal reader for about 9 years, it's goodbye to that magazine.

And just for fun, I enjoy reading Motor Trend, National Geographic, and Vogue!

I also read Bicycle and Runners' World, and, like you I used to read Shape. Her Sport and Her Muscle and Fitness are good too. I also really enjoy Womens' Health. I used to steal my husbands Mens' Health, now I don't have to (but I still do)! Anyway, it's in the same format as the mens' mag with lots of good articles about all different topics.

My Wife used to have a subscription to Shape but discontinued it last year due to similar findings. Now Her favorite magazine is Oxygen. I have flipped through but have a hard time relating...

Hmmm, this is what we have at home.

  1. Adventure Sports Magazine
  2. Triathlete
  3. Outside
  4. National Geographic
  5. Backpacker
  6. JEM (emergency medical zine)
  7. JDJ - java developer's journal

I probably read Outside the most. Then ASM.

Outside, National Geo's Adventure, Men's Journal - better than Men's Health in my opinion. MH seems to be too ad heavy and little in-depth articles. Better pictures though! Triathlete.

Beyond those, it's more of newstand browsing for good articles. So an occasional Esquire, Communication Arts.

And then of course SI around this time of the year ;)

gb_ant - good to know that I'm not the only one steals Men's Health from their husband! I wish Women's Health would get up to speed and come out monthly.
