Well, I have to say that I'm the kind of person who always does live life to the fullest and gets the most joy out of every day possible - as KitKat says "My lightbulb is always burning". But, and this is major, much of my ability to do so rests on the sheer good luck of being born where I was born and to the family I was born to and not having any mental health issues along the way. As someone who has slept more than a few nights on the street and in abandoned buildings and with the invisible people who make up our lowest classes, as someone with close friends or family members who suffered from horribly debilitating depression, I know that it's rarely as simple as "switching on a light switch" for many people.
So while I think it's great to let your light shine and definitely to help others, I think it needs to be tempered with compassion and understanding for those who may seem to "leave that light switch off and always find negativity in their daily life". Yes, sometimes that's a matter of attitude, and sometimes it's not nearly so simple as that. I never forget how fortunate I am to pursue my dreams and goals, even in something so non-essential as the sport of triathlon, while others on our planet struggle to meet their daily needs.

PMA is an effective doctrine for self-motivation and has been promoted successfully by Norman Vincent Peale, Napolean Hill (Think & Grow Rich), W.Clement Stone (Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude) and others, for decades.
It includes step by step methods of developing enthusiasm, setting goals, and conducting your daily life.
In my opinion it has sound psychological princples at its foundation, and, for better or worse, includes a strong basis of belief in a Christian God.
If that is not your cup of tea you can still employ the motivational tools PMA espouses, which include the deliberate use of self-motivators such as
There is nothing to lose by trying so by all means try!
Do it Now!
Every day in every way, I am getting better and better.
If it's to be it's up to me!
When the going gets tough, the tough get going, do it now!
and so on.
PMA has a long record of success in sales organizations and has resulted in success for many individuals and groups, I can see it being of use in personal physical training.

I can say having a positive attitude can be beneficial, but I have to agree with Ironmom that sometimes there are events in life that are tough to overcome with just a positive attitude.
I try to have a positive attitude and I have a lot of great things to keep me positive, but I have had points in my life where a positive outlook was not good enough.
(no job, financial problems, divorce, no place to live, etc)
'Nothing to it, but to do it!'

I can relate but something couldn't of happened without the positive outlook or thought to pull through each event. You have life and the other option isn't worth thinking about.
Thomas (7 yr old) told me yesterday, "Mom I don't want you to die." I told him someday it will happen, but where is mama everyday and every moment? He replied, "In my heart." I know mom you tell me you love me everyday. I think God put kids here to keep us reaching for the positive outlook.

There should be one of those shirts that say how priceless they are to us!

It is all in your Attitude!
Just by changing your attitude about things, you can look at life in such a different way. We turn on and off our light switches in our house all the time. How easy is that to do for us?.....IT'S EASY! Same with your attitude. You can, in a matter of a moment, change from being down in Life, to having a strong positive outlook on Life. The question is, will you "turn that light switch on?"
There are too many people that leave that light switch off and always find negativity in their daily life. We need to change the way we perceive our daily situations. You can find something positive in almost every situation that comes. Just by having a better and more positive attitude, you can see things in a different light.
Be the unique one. Be the one that guides people down the right path. Be the person that inspires others. We have so much opportunity and so much potential....it is crazy! It is just a matter of taking advantage of what we were blessed with and living Life to the ultimate fullest. Remember, it is not about those materialistic items that we get caught up in. It is about creating a legacy and a passion for Life. You can enjoy everyday to the maximum. Even when times are tough, which there will be those times, you will bounce back and be stronger than ever.
Look...I know it is easier said than done. But, with a consistent approach to get better and improve yourself, you will see the changes it will have on your Life. Stay healthy. Workout. Eat healthy foods. Be consistent. Take a friend who needs motivation to the gym for a workout. Inspire others to fulfill their lives. Do not take Life for granted. Everyday is an opportunity to get better.
"Flip on your light switch!" And watch how your vigor to Live Life increases. You will see the positive changes and you will be ready to take on each and every day!
