92+ degree water

Yuck. We had water that was in excess of 92 degrees in Louisiana this weekend! Gotta love the southwest :)

Being from MN I think I would die if I had to swim in any water that warm!

No kidding! Up there that's a hottub!

ewww.

this may be a highjack, but... how do you train in that Louisiana weather? the humidity finally let up here in D.C. and so I got out as many times as possible, but even without the humidity the heat is rough. hook me up to an i.v. i can't seem to get enough water and am constantly drained.
how do you train in that [s]Louisiana[/s] Texas weather?
Not very much. And even then it's indoors (treadmill, spin class, swim, weights) or very early (but recently it hasn't gotten below 80 at night). The flip-side is that you can run and ride (usually) all through the winter.

Texas it is... I just view the training as getting used to the heat, so when I race at 8am, it feels decent, even if it is 85-90.

I ride and run after work when it is up to 105. Longer distance stuff is on weekend mornings when its in the 80s or 90s.

When you are moving, its not so bad!

It was a little rough hearing them announce the water temp as 92.7 degrees at 7am :-(

Bring your soap and shampoo for a bath ;-)

I think my hot water heater is set at 92 degrees.

Yeah, the gulf gets close to the temp right off shore this time of year. The non spring fed lakes, too. And the local pools. Definately sucks when you need to sit on the edge of the pool to cool off after swimming a set.

Are you talking River Cities Tri? It was brutally hot. I remember unloading my bike off of the rack. When I picked it up to place the front wheel, there was a 1/4 inch indentation from my bike forks on the hotel parking lot...Oppressively hot.

training in Houston is about the same; 100% humidity and 90-100 degree mornings- and the lake swims feel like slimy bathwater that have been used (and peed in) by hundreds of people before you :(

Gotta get up nice and early. Nothing like getting up at 3 or 4am just to get in a bike or a run! It's actually quite peaceful and I love it! Ditto about the winter, anytime and anywhere you want in AZ. We also have the luck of having 350 days of sun too, so those winter days are AWESOME!

Yes, Rivercities. On top of the hot water, our hotel room's A/C was really crappy. I was sweating my ass off in bed at 10pm.
