Time Calculator

Forgot to mention - It's protected, just to avoid accidental cell changes aside from the inputs - but there's no password, so you can unlock the sheets and make changes if you like.
To tri or not to tri - that's not a question at all!

That's very cool. Thanks!

So I got annoyed at how much time it took me to do various time calculations for legs of a tri etc, and wasn't happy with the status of various calculators I found on the web... so, I wrote one in excel. Try it out and let me know what you think. I've tried to make it pretty bomb-proof, but I know how this goes - a little bit of use finds things that don't work.
I made it so you can enter your distances and speeds in various different units. I even included Laps for a 25 yard pool "Laps 25Y" to end the proverbial question - how many laps is that mile swim again?
The legend is at the top, but dark blue are the input cells. Just plop them in, select your units and let it rock. It's mostly driven off of drop down menus (even in the input cells) and I tried to restrict inputs so that it doesn't blow up too easily.
I found that time is hard to deal with in Excel - especially elapsed time. So I had to get a little tricky to get the time stuff to work right - it causes some rigidity in selecting your various pace inputs, but if the ranges I made don't work, that can be fixed. If anyone knows a more artful way to deal with time in excel, I'm all for hearing about it. They way I did it is kinda brute force. Also, I wrote it in Excel 2007, and I couldn't upload that to the site. So I saved it backwards into Excel 97-2003. Not sure if anything broke in that process.
There's also a handy converter on page one for units to units conversion, but on page 2, I plopped a "standard distance" table that can be converted however you like as well.
I look forward to any thoughts you have In the NYC Tri, I had done this by hand before the race, and messed up one of the calculations. when I showed up 40 full minutes later than expected (due 98% to the math error) at the intersection my wife was at.... the first thing she yelled out was "What happened!!!???!!!" Hopefully, this spreadsheet will help me prevent that!
