Has anyone signed up for Ironman Lake Placid 2009? My boyfriend and I are looking for a place to stay (our first Ironman!) and would perhaps like to share a cabin w/ a few other people. Let me know if you're interested, or if you have any ideas as to where is a good place to stay. Thanks!

I'm not signed up but I do have a suggestion for you. Last year, a friend of mine stayed in a beautiful log cabin in the woods near Wilmington (not on the bike course but close, about 20min drive to town), it had a loft bedroom and a hot tub, I think she paid $150/night. If that's something you'd be interested in, I can ask her for the owners' contact info.

It is worth looking into Saranac Lake as an alternative. It is only 8 miles from Lake Placid, offers a lot of less expensive accommodation and the access into Lake Placid is not closed off on race day like it is for areas west of town. It is my second summer of vacationing in Saranac Lake and fits my budget a lot better than Lake Placid.

I have a 4br house in Lake Placid and 2 of the bedrooms are available. Rent is $1k per room for the week, Wednesday to Wednesday over Ironman Lake Placid weekend. (buddy that i was splitting the house with is no longer competing) If interested, email me at kschweighofer@hotmail.com

I know that Ken Glah's triathlon travel company, Endurance Sports Travel, has accommodation available for Lake Placid. I have traveled with them several times to overseas Ironmans and always been impressed by their service. Their website is www.endurancesportstravel.com.
