It is, indeed, the hizzy. But, they tell you not to swim in it. People come up with solutions, like putting it under the swim cap, but I just stick with the $20 ironman watch for swimming to get lap count/times. I mostly use heart rate to monitor while I'm doing the activity (rather than afterwards), and I don't think you could swim and look at your wrist, so I have just never worried about it.
But, yes, the forerunner 305 will give you everything you want for the bike and run.

+1 on the forerunner 305. It may look a little big, but you get a nice, customizable display with that. They also make a pretty nice wireless cadence meter that gives you all of the data you could desire. I got the quick mount/release kit for my bike enabling me to use it for both the bike and run portions of a race.

but the screen is also smaller. I think it looks awesome for the run, but the screen looks a little small to use as a bike computer. Plus, it doesn't look like the band is removable, which would totally suck for using on the bike.

I have my eyes on Polar S625x but ... Suunto T6....
Me too ... or maybe the new Polar RS800CX supposedly coming out this fall. So far, the Suunto T6 is the front-runner for me but the RS800CX sounds like it might be close to the perfect Tri watch.
On a side note: I have the Garmin 405 and think its a good-to-great watch for a runner but do not think its the best choice for triathletes. Its fine in training but I have found it to be less than ideal in a race - can't use in the swim, don't need one more thing to do in transition (putting on watch in T1), and I found it cumbersome to change between measuring speed in the bike to measuring pace in the run.
I have tried a lot of them Polar S625X, RS800sd / G3, Garmin 405, Suunto T6, Suunto T6c and few others. But now I settled on the Suunto T6c with Memory Belt - works great for triathletes. And I use the S625X with Power as bike computer. That's it.
The new Polar may be as good as Suunto, but one does not know when they will release it. October-ish is the estimate so the state-side may be November or December. Good Christmas present. If you need something now look at the T6c. Suunto's software stinks, but you can always load the files to WKO+ for much better analysis.






I am just a begginer in triathlon while have a certain experience with multisport training (ex rower, cycling, runing).
Have owned Polar HRM several years ago and now I'm looking for a single solution for:
running - foot pod, distance, speed,...
cycling - all features - cadence, speed, distance, ...
swimming - at least decent HR tracking and logging and lap marking (while swimming in pool)
What are your suggestions and comments?
