Mike and I have added to our family -- and now I have a new running buddy!

She is the sweetest girl! We went for a 4 miler today, and when we got home had to play ball in the yard for a while since she wasn't tired yet! More about her over on my blog :)

I thought that you got yet another bike for the stable. ;)

Very nice! That is a great mix.

Her name is Gracie, named that because she is a bit less than graceful (I love watching her roll on the grass), and because she was rescued from a shelter. Her host mom gave it to her, and then she ended up with her for almost a year. So far we have left that name alone, but we'll see -- we have thought about giving her one ourselves.

We are working to thin the bike stable... but instead keep deciding on new uses for the older ones ;)

Your dog has her own motionbased account................

Does she wear her own Forerunner too? :)

No, for now she shares mine... ;) It might become hers if we are ever trail running and I'm curious how far she goes off leash, but for now we'll share.

Actually, I was first joking with Mike about setting up a MB account for her. Then realized that it would be a good way to track the running she does with us since we each wear one. We want to keep on top of what she is doing so that she doesn't get overuse injuries or increase things too suddenly, etc.

remember to only increase her exercise by 10% each week! :) Just kidding.

Congrats on the new family member! Pets are rewarding! I don't have any kids, other than my quadrapeds. My parents didn't let me have pets when I was a kid (other than goldfish) and so I had to marry a vet. We have about 10 right now...they keep me going! :)

She is cute, congrats! We have 2 elder(13 and 14) beagle kids and would not trade them for anything.Unfortunately I cannot run with them any more :(

I saw an advertisement for a doggy dash about 10 years ago, and I thought that would be the coolest race. Unfortunately I've never had a dog that did well with running. Probably more my fault than theirs.

Enjoy your new family member.

My last dog had to be put to sleep a few years ago. My kids and I were quite upset, and we all wanted another dog.
I have been holding off on getting another dog until we get a house.
We are now looking to close on a house August 25th, and the first question the girls ask is 'when are we going to get a dog' ;-)
Hopefully soon.

Thanks all! And Beads, part of my motivation in our last move was to get a dog :) It was a requirement that the new place would allow them.

clarification on my post...I don't have 10 dogs. I only have 2 dogs. The rest being of different species. :)

still... 10 of anything probably leaves you with enough mouths to feed and poop to scoop! :)

you got it right on the poop! 2 of them are horses. :) that's a couple hundred pounds of poop a week. It's a nice workout to scoop it in the summer here in AZ too! :)

I had a miniature horse growing up (and rode big ones but never had one)... and even it had lots of poop! I will never forget picking up horsepoop by flashlight before heading to high school :)
