I've got two sleeveless bike jerseys that are not working out for me as a tri jerseys. They're ok to bike wtih but when I do anything that involves moving my arms (swim and run), I get chafed by the piece of fabric that meets and then digs into my armpit.

I'm looking for a good tri top that is sleeveless and whose design is cut low enough that it won't dig into my armpit like my bike jersey.

I use a sleeveless Zoot tri jersey for training. Doesn't dig and is well ventilated for hot days. Believe I got it for about $25-30 off of Sierra Trading Post.

I had the same problem in the past with the armpit chafing. I have a Tyr trisuit that I wear for some races that does not chafe me. I also have a DeSoto Vuelo jersey that I have raced in that also does not chafe me.

It might be the cut, the fabric, or a combination of both. But the tri-specific clothing seems to work well.

Definitely invest in some tri specific tops

I'll put on Body Glide or better yet, Hydropel. That stuff is great at preventing blisters and chafing. Granted sometimes by the end of my race it has worn off and I'll feel a little chafe at the end of the run, but oh well.

I thought you were onto something TriSooner but then I looked at myself in the mirror and saw that I am still 5 foot 9 and weighing in at 150 pounds.

Never had a problem with my older style TYR Trifue top. I like it a lot.

You could try underarmour heatgear. That is what I wear for my bike training and occasionally for a run. It is compression fit so I think swimming shouldn't be too much of an issue. The shirt I have is extremely tight (it can be difficult to get on and off) however it doesn't restrict my movement. I don't wear if for races but I have seen other people wear it for races.

Look at the De Soto Forza Tri Jersey, I used once in training and then this past weekend in a race, it was nice, no problem.

I've had this same problem with my race top. At ironman cali I had 2 wear marks about 2" under each pit that bled. No me gusta. So much for 'sport fit'

I have a Sugoi tri top and I dont even know I am wearing it it fits so well. Its a bit short in the torso, but i also have a longer torso and a larger chest. I have never had a problem with chafing.
