Silver Springs FL Sprint Triathlon 7/27/08 - Wetsuit?
Surely there will be other athletes wearing wetsuits, mostly beginners or people who are insecure in the water. However, at the sprint distance (800m swim?) the T1 time will make the adavantages of wearing a wetsuit negligible. To answer your question, I doubt the experienced athletes will be sporting a wetsuit.
Just my .02.
Weary is the path that does not challenge.
I'm pretty experienced. I always wear a wetsuit if it's legal. Besides, we did this last week:

whatever you do, don't swim like a dog and smell like sausages
Don't be so easy on yourself 'cause this one might be all that you have left

That's not what I meant. :)

I've never seen someone who races a lot not wear a wetsuit if they were legal for the race. Occasionally someone will skip the wetsuit if they're using one race to prep for another non-wetsuit race, but that's a different situation.

Will be doing my second sprint tri this coming weekend at Silver Springs, FL. The swim portion will start in the springs then follow the Silver River (excellent!, watch out for gators!). The water temp will be 72 F.
I'm guessing that at that temp, wetsuits are "legal" but am wondering whether it's worth it the bother or whether others are likely to be wearing them.
What would the more experienced triathletes do in this situation?
