Bike Fit: Neck Pain
I'd wait and see if it is a lasting thing. If it was that soon, with no issues the previous ride, maybe it was just that she hadn't stretched as much this week, or had slept funny.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking... but now, I can say that I "asked the experts". Actually, she seriously was like, "maybe I should ask Kylie..."
Is she moving her head around at all while riding? It's easy to get locked into a single position, which can cause some stiffness and soreness. I've had success with small movements, tilt a little to one side, tilt a little to the other side, look back for cars, etc.
It may also just be a matter of fitness...might be after a few rides her neck will get a little stronger in those areas that are sore now.
hahaha I'm so famous ;) Maybe someday I'll make it to the same race as you and get to meet you both. Doing the Redlands Tri (another reverse order sprint) in Oct?
Date for Redlands?
Thanks. See if it works in the schedule.

I hadn't even thought about it, and I'd like to. Lucy will be in New York then, going to grad school, so she won't be here to do it.
We're doing the Camp Pendleton Sprint Aug. 9th....
And I'm in San Diego the 5th - 7th so not sure if I'll head back down (chances are not). Well sometime! Or we'll just have to have a TF SoCal Ride :)

Maybe we should get t-shirts...."WWKS?" (What Would Kylie Say?)

So, the girlfriend had some issues with neck pain on our ride last Saturday. Not sure if this is just a stress thing, or a distance thing, or we need to adjust something.
We've slowly moved the seat up to a nice position as she has gotten more comfortable on the bike. This is her second week in the new position, and she didn't have any complaints about her neck the first week which was a 40mi ride.
Haven't changed the bar drop at all, and the seat fore/aft is the same... I suppose you could account for moving the seat up moving the seat back slightly, and thus increasing reach, but like I said... there were no issues the first week. Second week, pain started around mile 10 or a 50 mile ride.
Please let me know if you have any experience with this, and if you think there would be any adjustments to seat/stem/attitude/etc. necessary.
I should add that this is a ROAD bike, not a tri-bike, and no Aero Bars. yet.
