This past weekend, the muncie HIM, was my first 70.3 distance race. The race was extremely well run. Very organized, great support, and great fans. But the weather...
After about 10 minutes on my bike i looked out to my right just as a fork of lightening split the sky, and struck the middle of the lake sending sparks and water flying. This was enough to make me want to piss my pants, and i was on land. I cant imagine how terrifying it must have been for the athletes still in the water.
The thunder storm, which was one of the greatest deluges i have ever seen, lasted for over 3 hours. The only up side was that you no longer needed to fumble with water bottles, just open your mouth.
How did everyone else do in this race? Does anyone else have any crazy weather triathlon stories?

Yikes. Hope everyone was ok. Must have been quite the bike ride in that rain...

that rain was nuts! it kind of took my mind off things though and i ended up with a really good (for me) ride. i don't mind the rain, but it was also really windy.

oh yeah, i broke a rear spoke with about 20mi left. tire was wobbling like crazy and actually rubbing the brake pad at that spot every rotation, but she kept rolling.

and then i died on the run, like usual. i'm such a horrible runner. destroyed my overall time from last year though!
