Amica Ironman 70.3 Rhode Island
Very well done...I've done 2 HIMs in the past and underfuelled, so I'm still looking to break 6 (hopefully next year)...nice job

Kat- Thanks for the nutrition plan help; I think it really helped me push myself without worrying too much.
Great job and great time, congrats.
Congrats! I have heard the same about the chop up in RI. Congrats on a strong swim. Solid overall time too! I'd be stoked if I came even close to that on my first 70.3.
I hope the legs are feelin good today.
Cheers.
Yeah my legs feel good day; I went for a small ride last night to loosen them up again. But I am offically taking a week off from any serious cardio.
Congratulations on your success. Next time say hello!
that's awesome- you make it sounds so easy...
Wow - did we even do the same race? Nice job, sounds like a steady flow through the whole day.

Longhair- will do.
Jtrimom- It felt pretty easy overall; but I wasn't that fast. I think the training season along with the 1/2 marathon, Sprint Tri and Olympic Tri this year beforehand helped me on the 1/2 Ironman.
Tamara- I will be looking for your race report :)
Congrats!! Sounds like you had a great day, Good job on the finish!

My half iron is in November, up till now I have done sprints and a quarter iron...and a lot of training- I think I just have to buckle down on race day and know it will be long and hard...sounded dirty, didn't mean it like that ;)
I am sure you will be fine for the Half Ironman; let me know how you do. I think nutrition is a big part of the 1/2 so make sure you have that portion down. (long and hard..lol)

My info: Been doing triathlons 3 1/2 years

Strongest leg: Run
Before I write this report I dedicated this HIM to my grandfather and mother who died last year from cancer. I want to thank every person on this website that gave me pointers, tips and strategies, I couldn't have done it without you guys/girls.
I registered for the HIM the day before the race (bad idea took me 2 1/2 hours just to register) then I had to bring my run bag to the state capital and my bike to the beach.
Race day: I woke up at 4:00 am and for breakfast I had a bagel, banana, powerbar and a 32oz gatorade (I know alot of food). I got to the beach at 5 am because I lost an aero pad that I had to purchase beforehand. Our wave 30-34 was split in half by last name and I was in the first wave. The 1.2 ocean swim was a little rough the waves entering the water were strong and their was alot of chop in the water. I finished the swim 37:27
The wetsuit strippers took my wetsuit off no problem and I was off on my new Cervelo P2SL Dura Ace; on my old road bike I was so slow on the bike. Not this time the cervelo with the tri-fit seemed to fly and the course had rolling hills with aid stations at mile 5ish and 30ish (Thank god because I ran out of water....oh no) On the bike I ate 3 bags of Cliff blocks (600 Calories) and 2 gels ( 200 Calories) and a bottle of gaterade (150 calories) and 32 oz of water. So I reached my 900 calories that I was looking for; I was flying but I couldn't believe how fast other people were. But I felt strong on the bike (and no flats) Finished bike 3:03:21
I dropped off my bike and rushed out to the run; the only regret was that I wore my fuel belt. There were 2 laps of 6 miles a piece and about 6 aid stations per lap; a friend was rollerblading in the area and since I didn't need the fuel belt I handed it off to him to lose some weight. I am not sure how much food/drinks I had on the run but I did grab something from each station and in-between I thought "What should I have next?" The run was hilly and I had to walk up this one hill on mile 8 1/2 my left quad started to crap up bad (but then I remembered the time my mom had a walker because the cancer started to attack her legs and she couldn't walk but she would still drag her legs) so I kept running and the pain went away. At the end I sprinted past 4 people (probably a d$ck move) finished the run 2:00:53
Overall HIM time: 5:48:33 (I wanted to finish this first HIM under 6 hours)
Man I love this sport.
