I am trying to decide on some wheels to rent for NYC tri. The LBS has Zipps or Flashpoints (which are made by Zipp). They have Flashpoint 80s, which are like Zipp 808s (I think) or I can get Zipp 606, which means an 808 and 404 in a set. Any advice? And I really don't care which ones look better.

Obviously, the zipps are going to be better. But not by a lot. The Flashpoints are excellent wheels. Are we talking a huge difference in price?

The store will rent either set for $75 but the zipps won't be in until late wed. The flashpoints are already in the store.

I'd take the Flashpoints now. This way you can ride them and get used to them.

I agree, there is not going to be that big of a difference between the two sets of wheels, so I would go with the wheels that are available now. I might opt for the Zipps if you know there is going to be a heavy crosswind because they are shollower and might be more stable.
