First HIM ... What to wear???
Wear what you're comfortable with. I was also worried about the sun during my first HIM b/c it was early in the year and I burn like a piece of toast. It ended up being overcast and rainy so I wore the jersey for the storage of gels b/c I wasn't used to relying on aid stations. In the end I was just more comfortable in the jersey b/c I had always done my long rides in one. It did add some time to T1/T2 but I'm not a speedsters so it didn't bother me.
After you've been body marked, make sure to put on waterproof sunscreen, and perhaps even reapply in transitions if you burn easily.
As for clothing, my suggestion would be to not wear anything you haven't worn before in similar distances. A hat for me is always a must. People say that wearing long sleeved light-colored shirts can keep you cooler and sun protected, but I'm disinclined to try new items of apparel at a big race and have something go wrong (blisters, chafing, just plain uncomfortable).
Have a blast, make sure to let us know how the race goes. I have my 2nd HIM this Sunday, so I'll be out there sweating with you this weekend!

Banana Hammock.
I wear my tri suit....I personally don't believe in comfort when racing, it will usually slow me down in some way. So I guess it just depends on what your tri goals are. Whatever you race in make sure you've trained in it before.

sunscreen on first thing when you get up in the morning. then put your usual race clothing on. the sunscreen will be dry by the time you get body marked and not leave numbers burned into your hide
if you're going with the banana hammock, at least shave for the rest of us ;)
Thanks for the advice... Since I am a female...I don't have much to put in the Banana Hammock so i probably won't go with that!!! :-)
This weekend for my HIM I plan on wearing grape smugglers...with no shirt...lol

Lol...I actually had to wear a pair of speedo shorts to the pool yesterday since everything else was dirty; my swim partner said some guy was starting at my butt (that's why I never wear those)..

My hubby had guys checking him out all the time at the pool one season. As it turned out, I had bought a bunch of "grab bag" swim caps, and he had picked one to wear to the pool. Finally a guy asked him if he had swum with that particular group on the cap and when DH said he hadn't, the guy clued him in that it was a gay men's swimming group in SF. So, mystery solved (not that my DH isn't worth checking out, by either gender, but he was mystified about the quantity of male attention that year, LOL)

I am doing my First HIM this Saturday In Muncie and I am very excited. My only question is what to wear. I have done sprint's and olympic distances and usually just wear my tri top and bottoms. But since this is a longer race and it is supposed to be 90 on Saturday... i didn't know if i should protect myself from the sun. Any help is appreciated!!
