Getting a swim coach??
Not knowing how strong your swimming is...Check out Total Immersion on the web. There is also a thread that is active now discussing it. You can order the books and literature without taking the course, so maybe that would be all you need to brush up on things.
I have several IM friends that have used swim coaches for a month or so...learned what they need and move on from there....about $40 per 1 hour session is reasonable.
I am hitting TI next weekend, so I'll know more then on how good it is.....Good luck.
Also check around to see if there's a Master's swimming group. They call themselves Master's but novices are allowed.
Basically it's a monthly or yearly dues and they swim together and have a coach that handles the workouts. Often they'll also have days on technique or for new swimmers.

Read that suggestion made to others and wondered if anyone here has done it. I can swim and I guess I am about average. My problem right now is mainly just getting more fit and adding more stamina. Still I wonder if getting a coach before I start logging laps would be smarter then doing something the wrong way over and over again?
Any ideas on how much they are, how many times a week should I schedule him and how long to keep him employed? Do you learn what it is you need immediately and go back to doing it on your own, or do you keep him around for long periods? I live in Florida and am very lucky, we have two pools in our housing complex, the biggest one there is always plenty of room when I go down there. No excuse not to do a lot of swimming this year. In case you don't recognize my name I am brand new at all of this and that is the reason for a lot of questions. Thanks a lot for the help.
