Triathlon Talk on ESPN Radio
Is this on XM or Sirius? or is this on AM?
Nothing to it, but to do it
It was on AM radio (atleast here in Mpls) I'm sure ESPN Radio also aires on XM or Sirius. If you're an ESPN Insider you can download their radio shows to your Ipod/MP3 Player.

Cool, I catch ESPN radio shows on AM so I will also have to check out the web site too.
Thanks for the info!

He was talking about how he thinks Dara Torres, the 41 year old who set the WR at the 50m free this weekend, is using performance-enhancing drugs. He says that no one is better at a sport when they are 41 than when they were in there early 20's. He has talked about triathletes a few times on his show. His ex-wife was a triathlete. He always talked about how disgusting we are as a group because we pee in our shoes.
Daara will also be racing in 100 Free. Husband saw a brief on her and she says no to drugs. Why is that when someone does good the assumption is drugs? Unbelieveable.
She rocks at 41... What about our age groupers who time after time commit and do great!

I only threaten to pee into someones shoes if they apologize too much during a 50 miler.
However I have heard that triathletes do pee in their wetsuits ;-)

That is how you warm up! I've peed on the run, but not on the bike! Scott TInley did it to Dave Scott on the bike.

My aim isn't that good especially with my shorts on. It usually just dribbles down onto the ground.
Well, I agree on the possibility of improvement through age in triathlon, I'm faster at HIM and IM distance at 42 than I was at 24. But I'm slower at sprints and about the same at Olys. I think endurance racing is a sport where it's totally possible to improve through your 30s and 40s, especially depending on where you start at. Longer endurance races take as much brain as body to complete well, and it's harder when you're young to hold yourself back in the early stages of a long race.
Sprinting, I have to admit that Dara Torres is a perplexing case. It's pretty much unheard of for a sprinter to get faster later in life, you just have less muscle, flexibility, and physical capability. And to do so after having a baby and recovering from back and knee surgery is a bit unbelievable, so I don't blame people for being skeptical on that front. I was a 100m and 200m sprinter in college and there's no way in heck I could match those times today, and I think that would be true even if I had 200K a year worth of coaching, massage, etc. like Torres has. OTOH, perhaps her trainers have unlocked something that her coaches when she was younger did not. Knowledge of physiology and training has improved a lot in the past couple of decades.

Never thought I'd hear it, but Colin Cowherd is actually talking about Triathletes on his show. Since I'm at work I have only half an ear to it, but the subject seems to be sports that people can imporve in while in your 30s.
If you have the ESPN Insider, may be something to download and listen to. I'll be doing that tonight.
