this was brought up in another thread - so not to hijack it....

shouldn't we rendezvous somewhere next year? at an event that has multiple distances so all can come? with a smashing party and the man tri at chunky b's house to follow?

it definitely does sound fun, and not to discourage trying to put something together... but we have tried before. The problem was finding something that people were willing and able to travel for. It's expensive to travel for races, and we had no luck finding something that enough people could and would make it to.

It's one of the downsides of a virtual tri-group -- we are really spread all over.

I think an event "like" Wildflower where they offer multiple distances would accomodate more people.

I so want to do that race, but my other habit BOWLING bowls in Vegas that weekend. I can hook you up with people there though!! upwards of about 40 with different levels of abilities. Any chance for a fall tri or early spring?

Kids events are great too! My 7 yr is itching to ride and run. Not to hooked on swimming yet.

I'm considering the Pac Crest for next year, unfortunately its right between the Boise and Vineman 70.3's. The in-laws have a time share in Bend, OR and I'm trying to find a way to get them to one of my races. This sounds tough to pull off, but you never know.

My Inlaws live near Wildflower, so that's nice for me. But more importantly is a classic, one of those everybody wants to eventually do.

This is a great idea. We did try before but it kinda fell thru. Maybe we could have two an east coast and a west coast. Pac Crest or Wildflower would be ideal as they have the most events to choose from. Pac Crest is later in the year and has more accommodations options then just camping. What might be good options on the east side?

Maybe there should be a Trifuel sponsored triathlon, hmmm?

I'm playing volleyball in two weeks with some friends. All trifuelers are invited if we want to have a get together ;-)

I think an East/West split would work well for me since there's no way I'd convince my girl to go to the West Coast for anything but Vegas ;-)

Now if we compare the Trifuel map with Trimapper.com....

I'm so in. I would volunteer my house, but it's pretty tiny. I barely fit in here. Although, Captain Mal's house is pretty big, and he has lots of cool pets (dog, fish, hamster, blue lobster, etc.), so that's something to consider.

I would honestly traveling to a Trifuel Tri. I'd be in for a west coast especially since my bro lives in San Fran, and I'm always looking for excuses to visit him.

Vegas.... Now that sounds fun ;)
We could also do a camp type thing in Bend. Maybe get bigMatt and some of his friends to do some clinics, open water swims, rides, and such.

I'm for near Tribro's house. He started this thing and we should cater to Dad. It should be Pac Crest I think.

I'd do a camp too. I prolly need that more than a race - and since I've never been to Oregon....it sounds good.

I'm game for just about anything, as long as fuel stays below $20/gallon.

+10 to a camp with clinics and such in Bend area! And maybe end the camp with a "race" -- either official or just one we put together :)

I am still traumatized by the heat and elevation from the race this weekend (pac crest)...I would prefer a clinic at this point since next year I am doing Lake Stevens and they are only a week apart. But then, its not all about me ...outside of home that is..ehehehehhe

Camp with Big Matt sounds great.

But it sounds like Pac Crest needs to get it's act together with EMTs and water and such.

Oregon would be nice... Our Coach puts on a practice tri prior to final prep during an event training for an Olympic Tri. He made racks and it is just like race day, though we are practicing for the race coming up. We get volunteers to kayak, parents or significant others to time in the water and at each entry/exit at transition. We use to do it on Fiesta Island, but do to $$ it has been moved to Moonlight Beach in Solana Beach or Goletta Bay (Mission Bay) ( both sites of many tri events). Vegas does have an area now that holds events. You can check out the Pumpkin Tri in late September. I think I'm going there as a guage for time in prep for IMCDA.

Camping and clinics sounds great! I can do the west coast if we are talking 2009. Putting it all together on my end will take some time. (Ok - I really just want to train up so not embarrassed) ;)

Yeah, I think I'd be up for one. It really just depends on the timing with grad school. I'll have to figure out when vacations are in 09 and encourage those dates!

Haha well if it is southern CA my kayak can make an appearance... but it's a tank of a kayak so doubt it would head to Oregon!

Location in Oregon? Then we can start on a date!

I can pool the dates and enter on a spread so what dates are bad?

June 22, 2009 for me.

Where are all the Eastcoasters??!! I'd love a trip out west, but not too sure if I can pull it off. Let's see, we have St. Anthony's Oly in April in Fla which is a good race. There's tons of others - I'll look to see which have different distances.

I'd say we go right to that magical spot of Bend, OR if we head that way. Get Dad to let us all camp on his lawn ;)

I think April is going to be a good month for me. But not positive.

I vote for Saturday instead of Sunday, FWIW. And, since my birthday is on a Saturday next year, I vote June 27, 2009.

Honestly, though, if something like this happens, let's do it on a Saturday.

I'll do some research and see what events will be around that time. June'ish. April is too early, we wouldn't be able to ride over the mountain or do some open water swims, but could probably ski if the weather is like it has been this year. I know there is a sprint and oly in July this year a mini adventure race in August. If we were to do it I'd probably try to plan a 3-4 day weekend with something for each day. long ride, long trail run, open water clinic and rent kayaks, bbq and local brews to cap it off on a saturday night. I'll look at some dates this weekend and see what we can do.

This next week would be awesome... 2nd week in July as we could do all that and watch the Cascade Classics road race and crit in the evening, and then those doing Lake Steven can head up for that, or come down after depending on when it falls next year.

Honestly, this would be the greatest thing ever.

Also, this is a total rip-off from bikeforums, but we need trifuel t-shirts that we can put our user name on the back. They have those over at bike forums, and they're the bomb. How awesome would that be to go to the pre-race dinner in our Trifuel shirts, and they would all have our screen names on the back of them. Anyways, Tribro, it's something to look into.

Man not many southerners here. I would have to convince the significant other and with kids if east coast I prefer Florida, as at least it is driveable for most locations from upstate SC.

Two crumb snatchers literally eat up most of the discretionary income for travel. But the wife might be in if the location and timing were right.
