The Battle At Midway Olympic (BAM)

Well, I see nobody has posted anything on this race, so I'll go ahead-

Battle At Midway is held at the Olympic cross country ski venue Soldier Hollow, in Midway, Utah. It was my first Olympic, and it was just a fantastic race. The whole olympic feel, with names and times scrolling on the big electric board and Dave Warden of Tri-Talk doing play by play from the tower was very cool.

Last year was the first year, they had 200, this year it ballooned to 500.

I had a great race, 2:26:48, I was thrilled to break 2:30. Last year it would have been good for first in my age group by 14 minutes, this year I was 12th out of 32! A fast group of people!

There was a lot of pros and elites, which added to the whole experience.

I set a PR in the swim, 25:09 from gun to shore (results show differently because timer was at entrance to transition) so I was thrilled with that, but then too slow on the bike to be competitive, and pulled in a 45 minute run, was hoping for 42.

Overall a great race, I highly recommend it. I'll do it next year for sure, but I'll work a LOT harder on my bike next time, and do more bricks to hopefully pull off a better run too!

Great job on the PR, very nice time!!!

way to go.

2:26 is a very solid time. Good job.

Is the swim in Deer Creek? That's an awesome time. Do you train in a group around SLC?

Yes, the swim was in Deer Creek, then the bike went from there to Midway and back through the farmland to Soldier Hollow, the the run was on the Olympic cross country course.

I work out with the Timp Tri Club: www.timptriclub.com
