Newbie from Sunny So Cal
You will love tri! From what you've described you should have no trouble in your Sprint. Total Immersion has some good swimming lessons/pointers and you'll need some tri-specific gear, but the main thing is quality time training and having fun!! :) Good luck and go SoCal! JD
Congratulations, Tri is great fun. I've done 3 now and have my 2nd Sprint one this weekend and I am hooked. I'm not an expert but alot of people suggest concentrating on your weekest discipline, so you may look at doing more swimming if you feel you need it.
Good luck though.
Thanks for the advice. I am sure I will need more swim time, I just have to work out how. I have never heard of Total Immersion until I visited this site so I don't know if there are any in my area. I will definitely check it out though.
Thanks!
Lisa :)

Welcome on board! Neither I have never run a tri before... I am almost learning to swim now (35), so I think I am not a good example to follow, although I'm training hard to push my first one up!!!
I have followed the advice that several folks gave me about Total Immersion... You can check your regional workouts by email before ordering. I've ordered the book and dvd. I can't wait... So, train hard and have fun!
From the sunny Spain, tri regards
Thanks :) I am really excited about this and it sounds like you are too. Good luck to you!

Hi all,
I have never done a tri before. I always loved the bike (2 centuries). Started running last year (1st 5K in December). I was looking for something to keep me motivated and a friend mentioned the Danskin Sprint Tri in June. So I said sign me up!
All I have to do is add swimming to my schedule and I should be ready to go. I have 16 weeks to get back into the swim of things. Sorry! Since I was a fish as a kid, I'm hoping it won't be too tough to start swimming again. This is me crossing my fingers.
Workouts - I commute to work by bike 5 days a week (30 min each way), run 4 days (13 mpw - building to 15-20 mpw), and Saturdays are bike-strength-bike-run (small brick?). Am hoping to add swimming on Saturdays and then when it starts getting lighter later, I'll add a Wednesday swim (no car). Hopefully that will get me good to go.
I can't wait to learn from everyone.
Lisa :)
