Ironman Oregon????
I've heard a lot of chatter about this over on another site. Still a lot of skepticism about it... but having done the last couple new IMs their first year I might have to do it ;)
Curious that it would be a qualifier for the same year. I figured that like Wisconsin it would be for the following year. Also, there is also a Kona race this year -- the next isn't 2009 like the article says. So I'm curious how sure even the authors about the prospect of it.

Very intriguing! That's a beautiful rolly landscape. Hagg Lake was a great venue for the AG Nationals.
BUT
Hagg Lake seems to have trouble handling parking for local races that are much smaller than this one would be. I think there'd be a whole lotta bussing going on. Forest Grove is not the first place I'd think of for this...but bring it on!
Yeah, if they rolled over the Kona slots to the following season that would be way more fun. I've also heard that Eugene (current home this week of the Olympic Track and Field trials) and Bend (home of the Pacific Crest event weekend, including HIM course) are other contenders. In some ways, both of those venues would make more sense from a logistical standpoint. But if any of the three make it in, I'll be there (probably not in 2009 though, maybe 2010).

I saw the thread on ST too...it'd be easier to comment if there were a proposed route identified or some notion of where T2 would be (presumably not at Hagg?).
Having this just down the road might make me want to sign up for it, too. [The wife won't be happy about that! My plan had been to wait for the boy to grow up before attempting to steal all that training time for myself.]

From what I have observed, they (WTC) typically license an existing race instead of starting from scratch. Sounds awesome up there. I'd love to see more Ironman North America events to add some supply to the demand. But September means I'd have to train in June, July and August and in Texas, that sucks. So maybe not.
That would be awesome....Hagg Lake is like my backyard...well 30 minute to my backyard. It's a beautiful area to swim/bike/run. They hold Nationals there :)

I know they did that with the 70.3 races, but I didn't think they did with Ironman ones.

wow, this would be cool. We could make it the official Ironman of Trifuel if it ends up in Bend...
That would be awesome to bring one here. Hagg Lake is a great area to hold a race, but it is more suited for a local race, not a 2,000 participant race. It could be a nightmare from a logistical standpoint. I think that the race would be much better off it were in Eugene or Bend instead of Forest Grove. Just my two cents, but if they bring one here, I am definately going to have to do it.
you could bump Ford and be the Title Sponsor
"Trifuel Ironman Oregon "what would its acronym be? IMOR? [maybe MANTRI?]
Sweet!! Now I just have to get to Oregon

YES!!!!!!
Looks like it's a strong possibility for Ironman Oregon
It's a gorgeous place, I love the course already and September would be perfect weather. It would be very tight timing for those hoping for a Kona slot though...
