I met ChunkyB!
It doesn't get any better than that. Your life is now complete.
Well done. Before this I thought he was a mythical character, selflessly defending Trifuel from spam and bad internet links. No cape, Chunky??

Capes do add such a dramatic effect =) and might just help you if the course has some really long steep downhills lol. Thats awesome though hope you both had a good race!

Base 1 (Week 2, 16.5hrs)
Check out my blog!
Sorry dude. I'll email you the pics tonight.
I totally loved that race, probably because I was just taking the pictures and making sure everyone had a water bottle.

HAHA. That is awesome. Thanks for cheering me on, Callco. One thing you failed to mention is that you saw crossed me when you were going up the super steep hill and I was going down it, and we were still probably going the same speed.
I was hoping there would be no pics of this race because of my pink jersey. I seem to remember a post in the Man Tri thread about beating up anyone wearing a pink jersey. Whoever posted that should feel better though, because as I left T2, my brother (CaptainMal) yelled out something like "Keep it up. You're doing great", and my dad yelled out "Go Cole. You totally don't look gay in that pink jersey". It's a hand-me-down from him anyways, so you think he'd be the last person to make fun of it.
I keep meaning to do a race report, but I still don't have any pictures. But basically I was trying to get under 2 hours (my previous PR was 2:05), and I got 1:41, so I was totally stoked. It went so much better than I thought, and it made me so much more excited for Spudman. I think I'll definitely do this race next year.

SWEET!
Sorry I missed you Callco. I was too busy sitting on a camp chair eating gummy worms.
Congrats on a great race!

Hahahaha, my day is now complete. Thanks guys!
Obviously he had to keep his cape hidden to protect his secret identity ;-)
Congrats Chunky B!

It takes a big man to wear pink and an even bigger man to wear spandex.
I don't know what they say about men who wear pink spandex. :D
callco wrote:clicky for more pics of ChunkyB in pink. :)AWESOME smile, Chunky! We should all look that joyous when crossing the finish line. (make sure you guys add your connection to the 6 degrees of beads thread,so we can all keep track!)
I prefer the "attack" look on his face as he's exiting the swim. Like a shark out of water. :)
That rocks. Very cool to meet the man himself.
ChunkyB is a smily kind of guy. The "attack" look may have been because he was kind of helping an uncousious racer out of the water whose heart and breathing had stopped. I finally had to yell at him to get moving and stop watching them perform CPR. Pretty freaky.
By the way, the last I heard, the guy had a pulse and was responsive.

Yeah. You can see the EMT jumping over the railing as I'm exiting going to go give the dude CPR. Luckily, I don't think he died. But they were doing CPR on him when they put him in the ambulance. But, I heard that he was responsive at the hospital.
But, yeah, I was pretty freaked out.

Whoa. So he really does wear a cape!
I hadn't heard anything about a near drowning.
Stairs at the end of the swim??!?!
I would feel badly for all those that are near me as I try to climb after swimming. It's bad enough I'm going to be on a bike!
Woah that's scary, but good to hear he is (we think) ok.
Chunky you need more watches! :)

Yeah. Callco already made fun of me for not putting my arms up at the finish. I was too busy stopping my stopwatch.
The one watch is the wal-mart ironman watch that I wore the whole race. The other is my 305, but I didn't want to hassle with it on the swim, so I just had it on for the bike and run. It's my only bike computer, and I wanted to keep track of my speed on the run, and it actually helped motivate me to go faster.
I'm thinking of wearing them on the same wrist next race. Maybe I'll even wear a slap bracelet for good measure.
"The melting point of wax means nothing to me": Thrice
*grin* I like the slap bracelet idea. Might be helpful in the swim for rough competitors ;)
I use my Garmin for the whole races. I don't worry about getting my full official time since splits and not total time tend to be missed at some races I do.

Chunky would be well on his way to Euro-cool if he had a pink bike & helmet to go with the jersey.

A PR and a life saved? That's one helluva day Chunky! Nice!
Did you get a time bonus for saving people on the swim?

I wish. I actually didn't help the guy as much as I should have. I didn't really know what to do. It was kind of crazy because it was so close to the finish that they didn't have a lot of kayak guys near there. They were more out around the buoys and stuff. At any rate, it was really scary, and I really pray that he's okay.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I love the Mega Man one, but maybe it's time for a change.

Okay. I changed it. How does it look?

Looks awesome!
Slap bracelets, hmm? Brings back memories of 2nd grade. I had a really cool hot pink leopard one...
Okay. I changed it. How does it look?
Now if you could get some dramatic theme music.... ;-)

Looks great! Nice work. Let's make sure that slap bracelets are included in the Man-Tri Goody bags. Or, did we decide that goody bags are too un-manly?
I think the bags were burlap.

I think we should call them fun bags. ZING!!

Pure genius....thus the cape.
I think I just peed myself.

I'm one of the few, one of the proud, who has actually made verbal contact with our own ChunkyB. It's a moment I'll not soon forget. I've documented the event in my own personal journal.
Here's how it went down. I'm stumbling along at about six mph, minding my own business, trying to keep my mind off how bad my legs hurt, and out of the corner of my eye I spot racer #192 going the opposite direction on the out and back course. A wave of excitement flowed through me, and before I knew it I was screaming out "Go ChunkyB!"
Well done, Cole. That was an absolutely awesome race. I'm putting it on my "must do again" list. I'll hope to see you there again next year.
