I can't link to it from work (they've blocked blogspot) but check out dcrainmaker.blogspot.com and do a search for his post on this race. He did a fairly decent recon of it.
My husband and I are doing the race and he also, in an attempt to allay my fears, drew out the course topography over a more reasonable measurement. The "peaks" on the bike course don't look nearly as forbidding when the scale is expanded.

Although it's the first year, anyone here familiar with the course? The profile looks challenging but curious if anyone can give some thoughts..thanks!
