Ok folks...be honest. You love your bike. It's your best friend and sometimes your worst enemy. You've been through thick and thin with it. Granted you still glance at others but you know where your heart lies. So like B.B. King has Lucille....what's the name of your bike?

Mine you ask? Lolita.

I haven't actually named mine, however I know it's a male since I refer to it as boy when I'm talking to it. That's right, I talk to my bike.

Well there is the little one bike (R3/fun bike) and the speedy one bike (PX tri bike/workhorse) and the dirty one (mtb). I just refer to them that way.

Yeah, my wife refers to me as the dirty one. Hopefully she doesn't have a speedy one or a little one that I don't know about.

I have never named my bike, but I just got a new frame, so maybe it's time.

Rocky, he was always the underdog. Its a giant OCR 3 which is definitely an underdog compared to what bikes others have, Plus I am always losing tubes due to rocks, it fits.

Betsy. Lucky for me, all of my bikes have been named Betsy. It saves me the worry of accidentally yelling the wrong name in the heat of the moment (during tough climbs of course).

Ky,
If you take this out of context, and take out the info in ( ) this would sound naughty ;-)
This would belong in the 'Question for the Trifuel Women' thread

Any time you can throw in a "Major League" qoute it is nice.

No name for mine yet. But I do talk to her at times.

My road bike (Giant TCR) is named Coraggio, because when i first got him I was afraid of riding/crashing and needed extra Courage. My tri bike (Orbea Ora) didn't have a name for the longest time and one day while riding the name Cristoforo popped in my head. Didn't know why. Went home and looked it up... St. Christopher is the patron saint of Travelers and of epileptics. I'm Catholic, a cyclist (traveler), and have had seizures in the past. Nothing could be more apt. Now I just want a St. Christopher's medal to hang from my base bar and I'll be set!

No names for the bikes yet, just "the good bike" and "the other one". My fiance both name our cars after our randomly generated license plate numbers though.

The girlfriend calls my bike my mistress, the bike calls her the same.

I have a pretty big bike (58cm) and its white. So i call it Ishmael or Moby or whatever other reference to Moby Dick or other great white whales i feel like making in the moment.

I also have a laptop named jarvis, a pc named sheila, my old car was suzanne, and my chefs knife is cindy.

My blue Cannondale is named "Blue Lightning". At least the name sounds fast. I have a Scott Plasma that needs a name, though.

I take christening my bike very seriously. It could take months to get a fitting name. My last one was Jezebel, sweet and sexy but she enjoyed making me hurt. The mountain bike is Ginger, a feisty red head. The new bike is Nikki, she is smooth and elegant.

Our cat and rabbit went without names for several months/years so I don't feel so bad about not having names for my 3 bikes (one of which is nearly 25 years old). Then again, Bruce, how about Bruce? ("Sure Trev. Mind if I call you Bruce?"). I like to ride my Bruce, and he's hung in there for 25 years (so far!).

Nope, and my bikes don't have genders either. I love my bikes, I live on my bikes, I live for my bikes but... they don't have names. Awhile back my daughter named all of our bikes as if they were horses, I think my tri bike was "HiHoSilver" or something like that (it's titanium).

Bitch - its a love / hate relationship.

On really grueling rides we argue about who is actually the bitch or at least who is who's bitch. Damn, what was the name to that psychiatrist again???

So, I think I decided on a name. I got my warranty replacement frame a few weeks ago, and it's completely black. So I'm thinking, in honor of Rob and Big, I'm going to name it "Big Black". What do you all think?

That works. Although with the cape and all...you could go with a super hero theme...it could be called...

Clarice......From the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer TV Special. (I know, I know.)

She was the one that liked Rudolph, even after his false nose falls off and the other reindeer laugh him out of the reindeer games. She tries to cheer him up by singing "There's Always Tomorrow."

So no matter how different I may seem (training for tri's is not quite the norm in my office) Clarice still likes me.
