Swim Coach
Sorry I can't help you with a coach in that area, but here is a quick down and dirty on how you can improve your training until you find one.
When I see some of the female personal trainers at the gym, I wonder how much more I would train if I was trying to impress a coach that looked that good. I vote you find someone young and attractive. What they lack in experience, you should be able to make up for with motivation to impress. :)
TryScott you have a great idea. But do try to select a good looking young coach who knows something.
why not just have some hot chix in bikinis at either end of the pool - who cares if they actually know anything?

another innocent thread gone south ;)
Wow. Definitely thought i might get real ideas. I love good looking girls in bikinis as much as anyone, but i don't think that's gonna help my swimming. I'd just flop around more trying to get there faster. Thanks anyway guys.
I'd check out a local tri club. There you would be able to get some info on local coaches or even members or club workouts that could help you out.

That's all I have to say.
No need for me to chill. I'm not excited about it. I thought it was pretty funny. Takes a lot more than that for me to get pissy.
I would look for local Master's swimming groups. Either they will have a good coach, or some of the members will probably know one, or coach themselves.

+1 on the master's thing (if the bikini clad vixens won't get it done)

Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.
The young woman who coaches the master's swim class at my gym looks like she's about 20. She's almost enough motivation to sign up, even if you don't need the training.
For just a swimming coach - local Master's Swim teams are probably the best. Or you can find a triathlon coach who can probably help you with swimming and the other areas too. You can ask around or always look here: http://www.usatriathlon.com/Coaches.aspx

either of those groups close to you?

Hello all;
I have been around looking for a while, but not many posts. Anyway, I was hoping for some advice on finding a swim coach. I have been into the triathlon thing for 4 years now, and i feel like I am doing fairly well and constantly improving on the bike and run. The problem is that I think I'm kind of stuck on the swim. I admittedly have no real swim training. Basically taught myself from books and just practicing the drills and workouts. I had a friend who's into tri's look at my stroke and give me advice which helped some, but he is no coach either. Just wondering if anyone had any good tips on finding a swim coach. (or if any one knows of someone specific in the Jersey Shore area, that would be great too.) Thanks.
