366 days this year, because this is a leap year.

Last December we had a post about trying to run every day for a month.

When the month was winding down I was looking to challenge myself on a bigger scale.

I did an IM last year so I was only going to do some sprint and olympic distance tri's this year. I wanted this year to be a running year since I was already commited to 3 marathons and a 50 miler (JFK)

I was thinking about mileage but I usually just run for time.

I decided to try and average 1 hour a day of running, so I would run at least 366 hours this year.

So far after this morning (day 157) I am at about 163.5 hours.

It has been harder that I thought but 2 marathons help, but a few sick days and bad weather days certainly hinder me somedays.

The warm weather is now encouraging and I have commited to 2 ultras and 6 marathon which should keep me on schedule.

Great thing is I have got more motivation this year and lost some weight to boot.

Good luck with that. I've always heard that 2,000 miles per year is the gold standard for running (~ 40 miles per week). So, one hour per day of running (avg) . . . approx how many miles will that give you in a year?

As long as he's avging below 10:59/mile...he should get to the 2000 mile mark. GL

Great goals for the year and you are off to a solid start. Good luck with everything.

What marathons are you doing?

Drop me a line for some long runs, (1) 4hr run a month should build the kitty ;) On the easy Saturdays we'll only do 2 1/2hrs.

Nice job so far at maintaining 1+ hour per day.

I guess it is almost half way through the year. I'm on a good pace for 1,000 miles run this year, which was a soft goal.
Sport Distance Time
Bike 631.28 mi 39:14:22
Run 461.37 mi 68:37:34

Beads - I'm not sure my total training time - all sports - this year will equal 366 hours.

If I am doing about an hour I average about 8 - 8:15 min miles
2 hours I average 8:30 min miles
Longer than that I take it slower so 9:30 -10:30 min miles

I want to get at least 2 long runs in to prep for the Turkey Swamp.
The last one I will be doing the weekend you are doing IM lake Placid.

I'll e-mail you so maybe we can work something out.

Goals are great...and I think it's best to change them up. No sense in beating your head against the same thing year after year hoping to improve by a few seconds.
One year my goal was to run everyday and nothing under 5 miles. Did it.
Another year I raced and finished at least one race of every distance from 100 meters to 100 KM.
This year it's 24 hour events.
Yet another year a triathlon of every distance from super sprint to IM. Another year all du's.
Specialization is for insects.
Humans need variety.

Scott, looks like it's " game on" for Turkey Swamp...

I have been feeling very 'Forrest Gump' like this year.
I will do my share of tris but I have just been in my groove with running this year.

The 'Turkey Swamp' will rock.

Great work! You'll probably end up like those crazy "streak runners", the best of whom have gone over 30 years without missing a day of running!

I do like my rest days, I just make up for it the day before or the day after.

I find it highly ironic that the participants of that race get tshirts as a prize.

Maybe it should be shorts with the t-shirt, or maybe a sock, or 2 ? ;-D
