After running many years of running I have decided to challenge myself a bit and do my first tri

I got lessons in the swimming (to help with my stroke) and am getting a new bike soon(fingers crossed).

one huge concern is changing from swimming to biking. do I wear my sports bra under my suit then flash everyone a bum shot with putting on bike shorts(yikes)?

I just can't picture it?

any suggestions? ladies?

Kerry

You wear a trisuit and you won't need to change anything. I don't wear a sports bra because I am a guy but they do make me feel pretty. :)

Generally for a sprint you race in the same thing for all three parts. There are tri shorts, designed for this -- they are like bike shorts but with a thinner pad so that swimming and running in them is comfortable as well. However, for your first race it's not really needed (can be $$). I did my first race in my swim suit bottom and a sports bra. For the bike and run I added a tank top and pair of running shorts, just putting them over the other pieces. If you chaff though you'll need to be careful with that -- the wet suit can cause problems.

The best idea is to find a couple outfits you think are comfy for all 3, and then try them out. If you aren't really swimming before the bike and/or run you can always just get them wet and see how it feels wet that way.

+1 There isn't really "changing" in the traditional sense. Minimize the clothing combinations and find something that goes from swim to bike to run with as few additions as possible.

Something like this "tri suit" (not to be confused with a wet suit)

Very VERY few people look pretty in any tri clothing.

It's not the tri clothing that makes me feel pretty, it's the SPORTS BRA. :) I just need some big man breasts to fill up the cups.

For non-wetsuit swims, I do the whole race in my swimsuit. I've seen some women who are curvier than I am wear a sports bra under the swimsuit.

For wetsuit swims, I wear tri-shorts (http://www.desotosport.com/products/product.asp?Category=wcarrera&ProdID...)
and a sports bra or a longer top (http://www.desotosport.com/products/product.asp?Category=wcarrera&ProdID...)
Plenty of people wear this type of thing even without a wetsuit, but my swimmer background won't really forgive the small amount of extra drag.

For a sprint I agree with Kylie - tri shorts and a sports bra or a tri top. Just remember if you try to put something on in T1, make sure it's loose enough or you'll never get it on over wet skin.

Congrats on challenging yourself!!
Go with a tri suit and tri top or tri suit.

It will also speed up your transition.

On the downside the boys at the event won't get flashed a bum shot ;-)

Nothing to it, but to do it
