I've been using the Minoura which is ok. What other behind the seat bottle holders are out there. I know there's the XLab thingie but I'm almost intimidated by all of the different models. I just want to hold two bottles, I don't need a swiss army knife. Suggestions?

i use the xlab carbon wing. its kinda pricey but its very functional and has tons of room for stuff to strap onto it. i'm pretty sure that the xlab carbon wing and the hydrotail are the two lightest rear-mounted hyrdration systems out there. If you tilt the bottle cages on enough of an angle it should help with the "launching".

if you want basic, just try the xlab flatwing. its pretty simple and works great, i still use it on my road bike.

good luck!

I can tell you what not to use...I use the Profile Aquarack, and I'm not happy wiith it, as it makes it hard to mount a tool bag & it's kind of heavy.

I have the basic Xlab one with 2 bottle holders on the sides. You don't have to get all the "add ons" for it. Really like it.

Hmmmm, I use the aquarack and have a Trek tool bag mounted with it. Works well for me. Not much to it as far as weight unless concerned about the weight of carrying 2 water bottles. I use mine only for training.

I have the xlab flatwing and it works out nicely.
Just practiice getting out you bottles and putting them back a few times and you will feel mor comfortable.

Nothing to it, but to do it

I use the Hydrotail, it works well and allows for a tool bag/spare fix bag to be mounted on the seat post as well.

xlab here too. couldn't figure out how to put it on, so I took it to the bike shop and had them put it on. No more intimidation! :D Quite helpful, it is.

I use the profile design aquarack, holds 2 bottles, just what I need. I had a trek tool bag behind the seat before but switched to the bento box behind the stem. I'm sure it's not the most aero of setups, but I like it a lot. I've had no trouble with the functionality of the rack...it keeps the bottles snug and is easy to grab/replace. I figure I'll worry about removing all the minor aero drag when I'm not riding a road bike in my tris and once I have perfect body position, so it may be a while.

My only complaint is that occaisionally one of the racks gets loosened a bit from the mount from repeated brushing with my leg while getting on and off the bike...I have to tighten it back down, but no big deal and it's not all that often.

Xlab, I have all the add-ons, but only for race day. I like it because it leaves room for a bag under the saddle.

I use the Hydrotail and have been using it for two years and love it. Up until wednesday I had never launched a bottle but the pothole I hit was soo big there was no chance for it to not go flying. Ive held, two bottles, spare tires, inflator, and Co2 Cartridges no problem.
