It really shouldn't be parallel or perfectly aligned with the top tub, actually. At least not for dudes. Maybe for women it isn't such a big deal, but off-angle by 1-2 degrees can help alleviate some of the pressure in the perineum which may be pinching a nerve 'up in there.' Try it for one short ride and if it doesn't work, she can dismount and straighten right back up. Another thing is angle of the seat. The nose isn't too high, is it? I'm thinking that it's a nerve or something that's getting compressed. The other thing I'd have someone more qualified than I to look at is, "Is one leg longer - even slightly - than the other?" It's common to ride with a small shim in one cleat. Her left might be oh-so-slightly-shorter and she may have to overcompensate and over-rotate. But going number after 3 miles is wierd.
maybe her seat was misaligned

Leg numbness tells me that it might be a lower back issue, and maybe her seat is too high. The constant rocking back and forth can really aggravate your lower back, and lead to nerve pinching. It's something to look at.

Like ChunkyB said---Low back, typically siatica can cause this problem (I have had this problem running in the past). Could also be the seat. If it is too wide or narrow for her it may be hitting a nerve which could cause this as well.

So Im writing this on behalf of my girlfreind who hasnt yet succomb to the pressure of making her own account on here yet haha. Shes never had a road/tri bike before so being a little nervous shes been on the trainer in my living room for the last couple months until she finished college and our schedules were such that I could ride with her to curve up her comfort level. During her rides on the trainer there were never any complaints of numbness. For the last week and a half there wasnt a complaint either until the last two days. Her left leg now is starting to become numb after about 3 miles of riding. I myself have riden behind her to see if there was anything out of whack with the way she was peddling but everything looks good there. After a couple run ins with the local pavement learning how to get in and out of clip-ins I thought maybe her seat was misaligned but that looks to be in order too. Any ideas as to what could be happening here. I feel Ive exhausted my options unless Im just over looking something right in front of me. Thanks in advance....
