The past 24hrs i have been experiencing a numbness on the outside of my left knee. At first i thought it was from the chair i was sitting in at work yesterday, but it still hasnt gone away.

Went for a 20 mile ride today, and it didnt bother me at all.. but it didnt come back either. I dont think its a circulation issue, as the area is warm to the touch and not discoloured.

I first noticed the numbess while at work yesterday, halfway through the second of two off days, so im not sure how it could be related to training yet not spring up until more than 36hrs after my last session. I have recently upgraded my tribars and am still in the process of adjusting the bike fit, but im not sure how it would cause a lingering problem like that.

Ive had no injuries, and am not overtraining as per the 10% rule. I feel great aside from this, and a bit of a weird feeling on the left side of my bum, as if id been sitting on it too long, and occasional cramping feeling in my toes toward the outside of the foot.

Looking for any advice i can get from you guys on here. I would have already been to a doctor for this as soon as it set in, but i lack medical insurance so im trying to figure it out without dropping a few grand that i dont have. Thanks guys.

One possibility is that it could be coming from your back.
Side of your bum and the outside of your knee are both supplied by the L5 nerve root (sciatic nerve)
You could try doing some lumbar extensions - lie on your front with your hands by your shoulders. Push up with your arms, but keep your pelvis on the floor, so you are arching your back. Hold for 10 secs then slowly lower back down, repeat.
Obviously from what you have said this can only be a guess -so if your pain / numbness gets worse - don't carry on with this exercise!!

This exercise is part of the "McKenzie treatment program" His book Treat your Own back is very readable. Amazon sell it.

Hope this all helps
