Knee Pain?

I ususally make a long slow run every Saturday morning only this Saturday on the last leg of my run I started to have a tight sharp pain in the back of my leg right behind my knee extending probably to the top of my calf area. I stopped, tried to stetch it out, and then finished the run. Well its Monday morning now and although its not consistent I have noticed there is still a slight bit of pain there when walking, climbing stairs, etc. which has me worried and scared to run again today for fear of it becoming severe again. Has anyone had a similar pain? Know what it is? Treatment? Etc.

I'm too far along now, so I can't let myself be laid up with an injury and get off schedule. So please someone tell me some good news.

Could be just a strain. The point you mentioned has a lot on tendons and insertion points for muscles.
It's behind the knee, so I'm think a hyper-extension.
Don't run today or tomorrow for that matter...take a few days off. RICE. (Rest Ice, compression and elevation and toss in a few Nsaids)
If the damage were bad, the pain would be constant even when you weren't running
If it has not improved by mid week call your doctor.

( I am not a doctor nor do I fake being one on trifuel....just some thoughts from my experiences)

Took me awhile. I got it. It sounds like a simple strain or over-use injury. I haven't heard of many issues with that area of the knee/back of leg before. Regardless, rest and ice are the first treatment options. Next would be NSAIDs. But . . . I'm not that kind of doctor. But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I had/have something similar and sleep with and sometimes run with a bioskin calf sleeve, which has helped quite a bit--both during and post-exercise.

I have a problem like that occasionally, but it usually "tweaks" while cycling. It goes away pretty quickly, but I typically ice and take some ibuprofen.
