sneakers
Think you are referring to Zoot - they are designed for Tri - I have a pair - really liked them as designed for sockless and quick entry - the drainage is a plus - fairly light. Problem for me is thaT they have a fairly high ankle and that rubs on me. So I won't use them for anything longer than a 5k.
I primarily use Pearl Izumi running shoes. Those work great for me.
Tho, shoes are pretty personal and takes time to find the ones that are functional and comfortable - I use RoadRunner Sports for shoes - they have a nice/simple return policy if shoes don't fit or need to be returned for any reason.
You should go down to a running store and have them watch you run. They will determine what mechanical issues you have, if any, and find a pair of shoes that will address those issues.

+1 The most valuable tool for any runner looking for new shoes is 'gait analysis' by video. I send all my friends to the one store in all of Dallas/Fort Worth that does video gait analysis on a treadmill. As a result of my 5-minute session I have been running on the same brand and style of shoe - injury free - for more than five years. Call your local running stores and ask around for this service. It is usually free, or at least offered on an assumption that you will buy a pair of shoes there. Also, run away from (no pun intended) any shoe store that won't let you at least run out in the parking lot to try out a pair of shoes.
Try Fleet Feet Sports if you have one anywhere near you!

I'll second this. If you can find a place that does it it will change your running. Although since you have already done some marathons I would guess you have any issues worked out already. However this analysis for me (Shoe Clinic in Wellington New Zealand) changed my foot roll, from a heel to a mid strike and my knees have thanked me beyond words.

Hullo
I've run two marathons, and one tri and done all my training out of one pair of sneakers. I've got 55 days til the next tri and so I need to get a new pair asap. I'm not a fan of nike or saucony or new balance. generally i go with Adidas... but I hear there are some lesser well known brands of running sneakers that work very well for racing, I think zeet? zoom?
anyway, any ideas or brand names would be very much appreciated!
thanks!
