Does the omega fish oil actually help as much as I'm hearing from my gym friends? And does taking in protein more than 2 hours after a workout work as well as taking it in right after?

I don't know about the fish oil, but I think you're supposed to take protein within thirty minutes of finishing your workout.

2000mg of omega 3 everyday drops my cholesterol by about 10% more than diet and excercise alone. It does tend to make me break out though if i dont wash my face 2 or 3 times a day.

In combination with taking high ammounts of niacin (i take a 250mg b complex with each 1000 of omega 3) its even more effective as the combination makes it easier for you liver to break down and process cholesterol. My father, myself, and our doctor are all on this regimen for our cholesterol.

Im guessing you were talking about different aspects of the O3, but i thought id put what i do know out there.
