Cross Training?
Cross country skiing, backpacking, weights...
Backpacking in a wierd way is actually a recovery activity. This is what my husband and I do when we start to feel like we're over training. If we were to stay at home and tell ourselves to take it easy, we start to go stir crazy, because we feel the need to do something. If we're out wandering in the woods with packs on, we're most definately doing something, but it's definately a different intensity level than training.
To keep things fresh and exciting I also play ice hockey, volleyball, and I do Adventure Racing. When you mix in triathlon training with all of this plus my full-time job and the wife, two kids, and a dog (basically another kid), I'm too busy to be bored. If I get injured or a little burned out on one event, I just shift my attention to another sport for a while. Cross training is a great way to enjoy yourself and still get that calorie burn or cardio we're all looking for. Enjoy.
Well, where do i start....
Trail running and mountain biking are kind of part of my training for triathlon. Cross training-wise theres just so much to do! Tennis, field hockey, trampolining, hiking, circuit training - i kind of like to keep busy :) although any type of training is taking a bit of a hit at the moment due to exams :( eeek!
trampolining? lol
Ice hockey for me and a little paintballing in the summer if i have time
Mountain biking, hiking with the dogs, racquetball, tennis, basketball. Anything to get moving in bad weather.
whatever's happening on campus.... personally, I really like late night capture the flag, but soccer and stuff is fun too
dodge ball, ultimate frisbee, american jujitsu..... I've really wanted to try adventure racing, but as many know - big $$$$$
if you're going through hell, keep going. ~churchill

What other types of training or sports do you guys participate in. I know there are some snow-shoers and basketball players. What else? Trail runners, mountain bikers, cross country skiers?
