Last year I was zipping down the road came around a turn into a nice long flat section...too late did I notice the speed trap at the end of the straight. I look up and the cop and his partner have the radar gun on me..They laugh and wave and as I zip past he yells..." 25...Slow down ...this is a school zone!"

If I got a speeding ticket on my bike (school zone included), I'd frame it.

I haven't yet gotten a speeding ticket (though I did hit 67 mph in a 35 once) but I still have outstanding fines in NYC for infractions I incurred while riding my bike to work. Dec. 23, 2005, I was riding into the office during rush hour, and trying not to get hit by a cab. As such, I turned left off Central Park West into the park during a red light, crossing the street with the pedestrians. 3 minutes later I hear, "You on the bike, pull over." I was handed a $200 fine for running a red light, was lectured on the importance of obeying all traffic signs for my safety and promptly issued a second , $50 ticket for not having a bell on my handlebars. No joke, NYC requires all bikes to have a bell. The officer then recommended I plead not guilty and told me there was no way he would have done anything if it weren't the end of the year and he didn't have a quota to meet. Out of principle, I've refused to pay the fine and truly hope to have an arrest warrant issued for this. But since it took the courts 2 years to notice I missed my court date, I don't suspect I have too much to worry about. Anyone know if I can be extradited for outstanding traffic fines?

They put one of those things 2 miles from my house last week. It's on a really rough road, so I can't get a lot of speed. It read 29 the first time I saw it, but my bike was bouncing all over the place. I wonder if I could move it to the bottom of a hill that's about 800m away...

I just hope you are never in a postion where you want to get a job with the government or as a contractor for the government - especially if you have a warrant out on you. Also, I would think that you may have a problem the next time you need to renew your Driver's License. Personally, I would get this taken care of.

I had a blast, and I finished (1:34:44- sprint). Not bad considering I had taken the last two weeks off nursing a sore elbow. Found out today my arm is broken :-(

It really ticks me off when I'm zooming along in a 40km zone by the beach, and sometimes, backing off to keep under the limit, and.. some jackass in a truck has to accelerate to pass me!

..and then has the nerve to give me an angry look, like I don't belong in the middle of the single lane.

Oh, for a paint ball sidearm.
