This was my 5th race this season. The first four were all pretty bad, so I was due for something decent. Here's how it went:

Time trial start was kinda weird, but it was very fun.

Swim: 17:43 (13/23 pro)...the swim was short, though--I'm not really a sub-18 swimmer :)

Bike: 57:52 (17/22)...also a little short--one guy flatted out which is why there were only 22 left.

Run: 38:59 (18/22)...hilly and VERY windy. Everyone was a couple minutes slow....it might have been a little long, too. I was glad that I ran part of the course the day before. The last 1/4 mile or so was on the grass on the levy next to the lake with a NASTY headwind. I just about killed myself the last mile to get on someone's shoulder for the run across the levy so I didn't have to be in the wind alone. A lot of other guys didn't know it was going to be that bad and were surprised on race morning :) It paid off since I was keeping one guy (started 50 seconds before me for the time trial start) in my sight and watching our time differential on the run. I ended up closing our gap a little on the levy to 44 seconds to beat him by 6 seconds at the end (which was for 15th place so I guess it didn't matter too much!).

Finish: 1:57:03 (15/22). I wish the finish clock had been a little higher up. I would've run harder the last few hundred meters to get that 1:56....lol!

Then I had about 3 lbs of pulled pork. Memphis is famous for its BBQ.

Nice job! Wish I would've known you were doing MIM. Would've stopped by in transition and said hello. Pretty tough day for me-(very undertrained), but had a good time and didn't get hurt. Bike seemed to have headwind for about 15-18 miles and the run was brutal (again). Finished 2:44 and some change. I did beat you, though, in the BBQ eating contest. Well over 3 lbs here, but I am from Memphis, so I guess I'm the professional in that aspect!!
