CdA Water Temp
Its like this every year and then by magic it turns out perfect for race day. I know in 2006 3 days before hand it was 60 degrees and by race day it was around 66-68...What was funny to me was before hand I was nervous about the temperature and then I saw some toddlers running in the water and playing and I thought...I am such a wuss.
This year may be different. We had a record amount of snow this season ... 176 inches (old record was 123+) ... and the snow pack in the mountains is 144% above normal. We finally got some warm wearther (80 degree temps all weekend) and it is finally melting but this means all that cold water in entering the lake. Everyone around here is saying that it will be a very cold swim. As far as I know, no one has been in the lake for an open water swim so far. Our temps will be back to normal or below next week so keep checking on the website for the lake temp. Currently, there is a flood warning on the rivers and Lake CDA because of the snow melt. As a side note, they are still skiing (snow that is) at Silver Mountain in Kellogg. Good luck at the CDA Ironman. I will be working as a volunteer. See you there.
In '06, the day before the race I thought the water was freezing. But something happens on race day where you don't even notice water temp.

I'm only going to be worried if the water is 50 and they decide to enforce a 'no wetsuit' policy. Otherwise, it should only take 15-20 min for our hands/feet to warm back up.
With the record amount of snow I'm assuming that the air temps should be pretty cool, too?
Greatness is only achieved by those who perpetually raise the expectations of themselves to the point where it ruins their life.
It is currently about 50 degrees F.
I missed that part. That is cooooold.

There was a comment in another thread about the water temp at CdA being too cold. While it is cold, it appears this is normal and it will warm up enough to allow the swim. Here is a link for the current water temp at CdA.
