Since you're switching from longer to shorter races, your focus should be speed work apposed to endurance work. Think track workouts, bike intervals, high intensity swims sets, etc.

Ok, so I'm really thinking ahead here, but this training question has been on my mind lately. I am now training for the Florida 1/2 IM in May. This is my biggest event of the year but I plan on doing smaller tris and duathlons after the big race throughout the summer. What should my training schedule look like throughout that time? Right now I'm doing the whole base training/endurance work. Then it switches later to the quality workouts and speed drills before I taper towards the big race.
After the big race, and during and between the smaller races, what should I be focusing on in my workouts? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
