Don't want to overdo it....
Upping mileage on the bike is a lot easier than doing it on the run. You'll be fine. You can probably do a good bit more than 12, too.

Not fast enough.
Sweet...thanks! My hubby wants to do this one too and I think it would kill me to have to watch him do it from the sidelines! :) And now since he wants to go do it, I have to go buy a bike!

+1 on Gator's comments.
I also wanted to point out the fact that he has "999" posts.

I think anyone in reasonably good health should have no problem riding 15-20 miles a shot. With 6 weeks in front of you, that should be no problem.
Well my first bike outdoors (in about 5 or 6 years) back in November was about 12 miles (not intentionally it just sort of happened that way). I had to get off and walk up some of the steeper hills...but I'm def in much better shape now.

You are way underestimating what you can do. For comparison purposes, look at this training plan in TriFuel:
http://www.trifuel.com/triathlon-training/Sprint-Triathlon-Training.php
Look at week 5: it has you riding twice a week for a total of 2 hours. (You might not be riding that long right now, but just follow along for a sec.) Jump ahead to week 10 - the long week - and you've gone up to just under three hours for the week (nearly a 50% increase).
Now assume you average 15mph (any number will do): you've gone from 30 hours a week to almost 45 miles a week, again nearly a 50% increase. The point being that adding 5 miles a week (and taking six weeks to do it) is not much mileage at all, even for a sprint. You could easily double what you are doing now in the next six weeks.
yup, you are addicted :) And like others have said, adding mileage on the bike can be done with much less caution than on the run. It's mostly a matter of how much your tush can take!

Is 6 weeks enough time to up my biking mileage by 5 miles or would that be really overdoing it? I was training for a 12 mile bike, but about a month or two before I dropped down to about 5-7 (because thats what the length for my first tri was). I was originally planning on doing another one in August and figured that would give me plenty of time to increase, but now that I've been bitten by the bug I want to do one sooner. So would it be stupid to try and increase it that much in 6 weeks or should I just wait and do the one I was planning on doing in August (which is 12 weeks away)?
