Knee Concern
My body does all sorts of crazy stuff like that. You're fine as long as there's no pain. It may have been going on a long time and you just never noticed it before (I just bent my knee and noticed it does this... didn't know that til just now). Sometimes things become more pronounced after a solid run. Like I said, no pain = ok. If pain starts to appear: doctor time.
I have the same phenomenon on my right knee, but also on the outside, with the tendons rolling like you described. I've always had "loose" kneecaps and my knees pop all the time, but only have knee pain after long runs. The rolling tendons you describe has freaked me out though, but no pain, so i have never worried about it...
Just to follow up on this.
After I recovered from my sore Hip Flexor and Tight IT band nearly 4 weeks later. My left knee was still not tracking well. As I said in my original post, all sorts of tendons rolling on the side of my knee. I never felt that I was even walking "normally" as a result and I was afraid to run on it because even tho' it doesn't hurt, I figure if I start stacking miles on it..... I'm just asking for trouble.
My A race for the year was 4 days away and I was thinking I was going to have to switch to relay and drop the run.
So I decided to go to a sports chiropractor here in NYC. Wow! Am I glad I did. He did some form of electro-stim and then "hammered" the knee cap around a bit. When he finished with his adjustments it felt perfect. Of course he told me it wasn't going to hold that way because I've been on it wrong for a month. (makes sense). I left the office amazed at what he just did for me.
I was able to do the entire race and the knee is very close to being what I remember as being normal.
I had gone to my normal chiropractor a few times and he was trying to adjust my knee in a different way. It just wasn't helping. I'm glad I gave someone else a shot at it. I now have another "mechanic" to tune me up as needed.
As for the Hip Flexor and IT Band issues, I've learned a bunch of good stretches as a result of that experience.
Just thought I'd share, in case someone else googles this topic, maybe it will help them.

I ran a half marathon last weekend. After the run as I was stretching, I noted that on the outside (left side) of my left knee, the tendons (I think) were kind of rolling over each other as I brought my knee to a 90+ degree bend. It is not painful, but it wasn't doing this before the run and my right knee doesn't do this.
I figured it would work itself out but here it is almost a week later....
Should I be concerned? It doesn't hurt, but if someone knows something I could do to try and get this back to normal, I'd like to hear about it.
Thanks in advance
