Did anyone notice that the bike course has changed from last year. There is a longer section on World Drive coming out of Disney with a turn around past Hwy 192 and they removed the Seidel Lake Hancock and Porter Road sections. Also instead of one major turn around, there is three.

Anyone done this course before have any commments?

This is my first year doing it so I have no idea. I do have a question for you guys though. This is my first half ironman. How many watrer/gatorade bottles will you have on your bike? What else will you have with you on the bike such as gels, bars, etc.?

thanks.

Personally I have two bottles, One profile Aero bottle in between my aero bars and a spare on a Hydrotail on the back. The other side contains my spare tire etc. Carying two fruit powerbars and a flask of Hammer gel on the top tube. If it is going to be real hot, humid and windy I may carry a third bottle just in case it is a little long on the bike. I have a very bad reaction to Gatorade intestinally and I just cant tolerate its sickly sweetness. So it will be water for me, but only to mix with my Hammer Gel if needed.

But, that being said, you should of been using the same nutrition on your longs and bricks to get a feeling for how much you can handle on the bike and whether you body will tolerate it. Race day is no time to be experimenting with nutrition.

Relax, enjoy the journey and most of all stay clear of the Blue Haired Ladies on the bike.

Thanks for the info, which is helpful because I haven't had any long bike rides during training for this race. In fact, I haven't ridden my bike since an Olympic I did back on March 16th. There have been no bricks except for some short ones in February. I have been constantly traveling for work and pleasure from the beginning of April up until a few days ago. The only thing I've been able to do is run and swim here and there. Why did I sign up for this race? I'm not sure, but I'm going to get it done one way or another.

Like you said, I'm just going to enjoy the journey. I'm used to the blue haired ladies.
