So I had an MRI this morning and got a call back from my doctor this afternoon. MRI confirms 2 torn tendons in my foot!!! !#@$*!# So my next step is to see an Orthopaedic Surgeon to check into the severity of the injury and to get an idea of how long its going to take for me to be able to train again.

Anyone have any similar injuries in years past? How long did it take to get back to training/racing?

Yeah, injuries are something that everyone that's been here awhile has probably dealt with.

It sucks. All I can say is good luck with the recovery.

I'm so sorry. That's my biggest fear these days, so I truly empathize. Hang tough. Do what the docs ordered. In the meantime, don't disappear. Keep on Trifueling to stay motivated to get healthy and active again!!

I can truly empathize. Sorry to hear about this.
I do not have experience with this specific injury, but with injuries (many) in the past. I most recently missed out on doing the Disney World marathon and had to cheer from the sidelines in January. As most of you know I just got back into running after five months off with a stress fracture in my tibia. During this time I cycled like crazy, swim almost daily (since I have an endless pool, that part was easy) and did hot yoga (bikram and power) 5x a week. The good news is after 3 weeks back I did a 10 mile run this weekend and am back on pace. I am excited to do my HIM on June 28 as I had originally planned. The transition back has been relatively easy and I attribute it to continueing to train at what I could. This is not to say I have not had to work at it, but it has been much easier than I thought it would.

Cross train where you can. I know someone who had a foot injury and did water jogging for months, and was able to go on to finish well at Boston. Even now he trains often in the pool to eliminate overuse injury.

Stay motivated and let it heal. Good luck!

Several years ago, I completely tore two ligaments in my ankle and partially tore two more in a beach volleyball game. My orthopedic doc did not recommend surgery, as the the ankle is a difficult area to work on and recovery is also difficult.

He got me into Physical Therapy three times a week for six weeks. I did some therapy on my own as well. It took that long to walk without pain, and about the same to build up the muscle again.

Don't know how this correlates to a foot injury. Soft tissue damage sucks. Give me a clean break in a bone any time. I still can tell when the weather is changing.

Good luck with the treatment and the recovery.

I had two torn ligaments in my ankle about 3 yrs ago. Luckily it was towards the end of the season, but I missed out on my last race, and had to wear a soft ankle brace for at least a month and a half, it may have been longer. Definitely could not run until that thing came off. I could swim, but had to leave that brace on.

Good luck on the recovery, an injury at the beginning of the season is my worst fear.
