I am looking at Trek Equinox 7 and the Specialized Transition Elite
I loved my Trek Equinox 7 when I bought it 3 years ago. It was my first tri specific bike. I have since upgraded to a lighter carbon frame, a P3C. I still have my Trek and do ride every so often, especially when it's dirty outside. I think the only thing I replaced was the seat. I can try to answer any specific question you might have, just let me know...

triNick; thanks for the reply. Do you feel like it is a good bike for Oly/HIM/Ironman? I am looking for a bike I can use for longer distances that is fast on the flats and climbs good. My specialized Allez road bike is good for climbing but I feel like it is slow on the flats.
I have had my E7 since 2005, and have ridden it hard. They have only improved it since then. You cna set it up steep(and should) make sure you get it sized with the seat post in the forward position. You will have no problems at any distance with it. I have ridden mine in sprints and olys, plus 5 hours+ training rides. I didnt even change the seat, cause mine came with a San Marco Tri Aspide. I did change the aerobars to Profile T2s. If I was to buy again, I would go with a set of Visiontech s bends. The stock Aerolites are nce for their adjustability, but sit waaaay high above the bar and are not lite at all.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
Ride both bikes and see which one you like the best. I ride a specialized transistion pro and like it because it is so adustable and you can get the perfect fit. A lot of the guys I train with ride Trek's. You just need to try out both and go with you gut.

I see a '07 Trek Equinox 7 for only $1,346. (Pretty Good Deal). I will ride both of them to what I like better. I just want to try to buy a bike that I can use for the HIM and maybe for an Ironman...
thanks

I vote for the Specialized, , don't remember if the Trek is Carbon Fiber,, if not then definitely the Specialized but test ride all the bikes ,, I did and just eliminated the Felt DA compared to the Cannondale Slice. still have to ride the P3 and the new Jamis and the Specialized,, replacing my aluminum TT that is a too harsh for any thing over 30-40 miles,, (and riding is my strength) could be I am getting old too :(.. check out SlowTwitch.com reviews,, Dan Empfield reviews the bikes I know he has a TREK review , bike fit is huge esp on longer distances so try to keep the coolness factor low and the comfort level and power transmission high when picking a new ride.. good luck have fun
Yes, I felt my TE7 was a good buy, probably great at them time becasue that's whay I could afford. It's not as light as my P3C and I'm not sure about the Specialized bike but I used for my frist Ironman race. I had no problem with it. I thought it was fast enough for me at the time. It was a bit tough getting use to riding it in crosswinds in the begining but I managed.

My first Tri bike was the Equinox 7 and I loved it. Used it for several Half's and one full IM before upgrading to a Felt. I have not ridden the specialized so I cannot comment on it. My 2 cents is to go with the Trek if it feels good on a test ride.
On a side note it was the easiest bike to sell when I was ready for a new one. I have sold several bikes on ebay and the Trek brand is well known to people just getting into the sport.

I am looking at these two Tri-Bikes; any feeback on either of these bikes?
Thanks
