Thanks Kylie - I have done one tri in my life way back in high school, but I have done a lot of national and international judo as well as rugby (comes with the turf being a kiwi).
Swimming is probably my strong suit at this stage - I can do 2km in about 40 mins at this stage. In cycling I rode last night 75km averaging about 31km/hr, so given that it is my 7th ride longer than 20km in my whole life, I think I am starting out ok. Also in running, I am doing about 5 min/km at the moment, but looking to improve a bit on that as my training goes on.
I was a front-rower in rugby, but dropped 7kg after the operation (not all in the weight of the tumour!) to bring me down to 93kg. While I am probably not a stereotypical tri build, I am in pretty decent shape.
At this stage, I am trying to learn as much as I can so that I can do the best that I can, so any advice is greatly appreciated!

Very good. Congrats and goodluck!

Hahahaha - I wish they were all mine. That was the bike shop that I bought my bike from - Lohman here in Amsterdam http://www.lohman.nl They have been very helpful in getting me up to speed in the world of cycling wisdom. To go there is like having an audience with Yoda in a yellow jersey.

That certainly describes me. Welcome aboard!

After a 12 hour operation to remove a benign (not cancerous) tumour the size of a tennis ball on Dec 14 2007 and 6 weeks of preventative radiotherapy, David Bond a.k.a Bondy is competing in the Monaco Ironman for Charity.
Although competing for charity, Bondy is not just there to make up the numbers. All systems are go on the training front, and radiotherapy has not slowed him at all.
