so i had my first 10K race yesterday, it is apretty big local one with nearly 11000 entrants for walkers and runners.
i wanted to do it in under 1 hour, and did it is 59 min.
LOL
so i am happy, just started running in jan, so things are looking up for me i think.
i felt really good, got one cramp around the 7 k mark and had to walk it off for around 30sec.
also fighting through the crowd in the start ate up a lot of my time.
but i am pretty stoked, and sore today. went for a swim this morning though.

whats the best wat to keep my goggles from fogging up?

Congrats on the first race!

Haha... for a minute I was wondering why you were wearing goggles in a 10k! As for them fogging, I just wipe them occasionally during the workout or ignore it as it is usually pretty mild. There are drops you can put in the goggles that supposedly make it fog less, but I haven't noticed a huge difference and haven't used those in years.

you mean i am not suposed to keep my goggles on through the bike and once on the run?
LOL
i have done a smaller 5k race before that this year as well. i really dig the race feeling.
next is my first sprint on may 25th. not to far away.

guess i will just work with my foggy goggles

I find a bit of saliva helps keep my goggles clear, just a quick spray and wipe and they're good to go.

Wish my first 10k time was that good (or any 10k time for that matter), great job!

If youre not into the spit thing, like myself, speedo i think it is makes a good spray that i use. spray a bit in the goggles before the swim and rub it off with a tshirt or something. keeps the fog off for a mile or two.

Congrats on your first 10k. Same thing happened to me at my first one last year, i came around a corner and saw the clock and sprinted the end to finish in 59:58. Keep up the races and good luck at your first sprint.

For me, the best thing for goggles is a good slobbery lick. Just like those things like they are a woman (or man, I'm not one to judge...) covered in chocolate and you'll be good for the swim.

thanks everybody, i have tried the spit thing. not much of an improvemant.
i am a bit worried about the sprint, not about the run or bike but the swim.
i have signed up for a local masters swiming clinic that they will work on my strokes and breathing. i will only have 7 classes with them before the race though. i have been swimming laps twice a week for the last 4 weeks though.
my sprint swim is also in colder water. they say i need a wetsuit, so i borowed one from a buddy.

Great job. Sounds like a super first race.

I can't help this... after all that running, I bet your legs were on fire... Sure looks that way...

To tri or not to tri - that's not a question at all!

was the 600m you swam in open water or a pool? I am assuming a pool, either way its not a bad time at all.

I've been using baby shampoo as my goggle defogger.
Apply, rinse out without rubbing. Go swim.
I tried other products but once I didn't get it rinsed out well enough and my eye got so bloodshot it was scary. With the baby shampoo, I don't have to worry about that happening. It seems to be just as effective as the other products (nothing is perfect) and much cheaper.

+1 I thought I was one of the few who knew of the baby shampoo trick. A diver in Hawaii told me that was the best and that's what I use.

I used to use the stuff you put in your ski goggles for my swim goggles. That stuff worked pretty well back in the day. Now, I just use the spit.
