I am wanting to buy a new aero helmet and do not know where to start. What is the best aero helmet out there?
Giro, Spiuk, LAS????

They all make great products. It is just a matter of going to your local bike shop and trying one on to ensure a comfortable fit. Also use the search function in the top right corner of the site to get other useful info relating to this topic that has been previously discussed.

I'm not sure if/where you can buy them, but the Specialized TT helmet would go nicely with that sick bike of yours ;)

I use the Giro Advantage and love it. As jbird said above, though, a lot of it has to do with trying it on. I would not have bought one sight unseen from the ol' intraweb. I was able to try the LG Chrono as well but didn't like it's feel as much. I've never tried any other brand, though.

I would go with the specialized TT helmet but it is only avaliable in Europe and is not a cerified triathlon aero helmet.

Really? I thought it was just hard to get. I've seen people wearing them at races...

what kind of sunglasses to you wear with your giro advantage? i have read that the oakley radars, a pair that i wear, do not fit comfortably with the helmet on. anyone know if this is true?

I have a pair of Spiuk Spyder glasses that fit nicely under the flaps of my advantage. Oakley's tend to have wider frames and arms, so that's probably the problem you'll find with an advantage. The ear flaps are pretty snug. Just look for something that hugs your face (the Nike Skylons aren't bad either) and you should be fine.

Advantage isn't CSPC certified last time I checked. Only the Adv. II is.

Greatness is only achieved by those who perpetually raise the expectations of themselves to the point where it ruins their life.

I definitely prefer the look of a helmet with an attached shield/visor over a pair of sunglasses you need to squeeze under the flaps. It also seems like the built in shield would significantly reduce drag by turning the front surface of your face into a sphere....but I've never seen any tests comparing the drag coeffs of different helmets.

Anyway, the most popular helmets seem to be the Giro Advantage 2 and the LG Rocket. Popularity isn't everything, but with so many people liking a certain product its probably a good place to start.

I ride with a Rudy Project Syton Supercomp and have been very happy with it. Though, in response to Sully's point I have to say that I either use the visor OR sunglasses, not both. When I've tried to wear both I have had issues with the glasses fogging up.
