Greetings all,
I am going to do my first half Ironman in Florida next month.
Since I wasn't in Florida before I plan to fly down on the 12th and do a road trip that will end in Orlanda one day before the race.
I'm searching for great tips what to see in Florida and how to combine with my training during that week (not a lot, but some recovery training).
Any ideas, advices,...
Thanks a lot & happy training,
Andy

What are you looking for? Historical, nature, or the more normal tourist stuff?
The Keys are fantastic, but not likely a possibility on your trip this time. St. Augustine isnt too far, and has the historical element and decent beaches. North a little to Jacksonville, there are many state parks. On the west coast, weve got many beaches consistently rated in the top 5 and 10 beaches in the country. Some of those, like Fort Desoto and Cladesi Island State Park, also have a great natural element to them.

Then there is the more normal tourist stuff like theme parks. Sea World has just opened a brand new water park that I think would totally be worth checking out. They also operate Discovery Cove, which, depending on your budget and personal tastes, could be really cool.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
