Wildflower Run Intel? (And a Roll Call)
If you are doing long course there is a combo of roads, paved trail and dirt trails. It's hilly and will probably be hot. Coming back to transition involves running down Lynch Hill which is pretty steep. Make sure you have ingested plenty of salt and water before you get there because it's easy to cramp up on that final stretch.
The Oly is hot and mostly flat and there is no protection from the sun for a long stretch on paved trail. You also have to manage Lynch Hill for the finale.
I do recommend some bricks workouts that include tackling hills and if you have trails to run on so much the better.
I'm not doing WF this year so you all will have to have fun for me.

I'll be there (long course).
The Oly (which I'm assuming you are doing) isn't exactly a walk in the park. Its a dirt/road combo....there really is never a flat part of the run, the flatest part is at mile 3, and then turns into a gradual 2% climb. Grades range from 2% to 10%, then 10% to 8% downhill. There are atleast 2-3 big hills to climb, the nice thing is after mile 3 you can run on dirt for about 2 miles.
I'll be racing Saturday, look for the guy dying on the run ;p

"Its an addiction"
I remember a hill coming out of T1 and another hill further on but mostly I remember this loooong flat, paved part. Of course I was wanting to hurl and unbeknownst to me in desperate need of salt so my memory could be fuzzy. In fact it must be very fuzzy.
It's hot - take salt tablets with you and hill train. You'll be fine!

For one thing, I'm a bit surprised there are only 8 Trifuelers doing wildflower according to profiles (5 long course, 3 olympic). Anyone else coming?
My questions, though, is if anyone here is a wildflower veteran and if they have any intel on the run. I realized today in a moment of panic that I run almost exclusively on a dead flat coastal trail, but that the wildflower run course profile looks like a monster. I headed out and did a 6.5mi hill loop. Decent time (50min) but my quads were definitely on FIRE. What I'd still be curious to know, too, is whether it's on roads, trails, gravel, dirt, whatever. Are the hills as nasty as they look on the profile? Any particular strategy recommendations for getting through it in one piece?
I'm not scared of climbing hills on the bike, but on the run it could be a different story.
