my new soloist came today!!!!!!!!!!! had it assembled, went for a ride, all is good...and then i try to change the seatpost to the forward (triathlon) position. if anyone has this bike, please tell me what i'm doing wrong. i turned the post around, and of course the seat is backwards. i try to loosen apperatus that holds the seat, and thats where the problems start. i can easily get to one bolt with a standard allen wrench, but there is another one that i cant get to. do i need to go buy little tools? i don't have much in the way of experience as a mechanic or tools, but i also didnt think it would be this hard. anyways, i cant be the only one who's had this happen, so please, advice! thanks, and sorry for the wordiness.

in short, how do i switch the seatpost around from 73 to 76 degrees.

The system of attaching the soloist seat is not very user friendly. I didn't switch mine myself, but I remember my mechanic having a lot of difficulty when trying to tighten both pieces at the same time.

When the seat post is in the forward position, there is bolt on the front with the allen key side down that you should be able to reach easily. Then on the backside there is another bolt that looks more like a wheel with the allen opening on top, correct? I'm guessing that is the one you can't get a tool into? If so, it is a fairly large wheel and the outside is covered with ridges so I'm guessing you are meant to tighten/loosen it with your fingers. I just tried to loosen mine to check and I couldn't but with a pair of pliers I think you can loosen it until it can be finger adjusted.

(I can try and talk you through this because the seat post of my soloist is within arm reach and at eye level with my computer chair!)

yeah that is the exact bolt i'm having problems with...whose fingers do they think are going to be able to fit in there!?!?! thanks for the advice, i'm going to work on it tonight but i'll send you a PM if i can't get it! the bike rides like ____________ (too tired to think of something witty) and i love it, just a little frustrated with this seatpost issue.

Just loosen the "main" bolt with the allen wrench until the "wheel" becomes loose enough to move with your fingers. No pliers necessary! The wheel is just meant for fine tuning the level of the seat. Aloha and mahalo.
